For someone who markets themselves as a sports physio, your ignorance is profound. Maybe you don’t understand because you don’t deal with the consequences of what you are saying. I have had to operate on countless people who inappropriately flex and over-flex their back related to poor ergonomics as they age, including obese and deconditioned relatively young people. People who sit too much in a flexed position without strengthening their core, hamstrings, quads, hip flexors/extensors, and back extensors is more common than not. People who have lost lumbar lordosis due to lack of incorporating knees and hips into lifting/bending is a common problem. It sounds like you are coaching people to hurt themselves and eventually need surgery. I’ve operated on a lot of backs and essentially none of them could do a proper body weight squat, maintaining lumbar lordosis. And that is why their back was causing them a problem to begin with.

@gregogallagher Benching 1.9x-2x your bodyweight is way more impressive than running a sub 3 hour marathon. To add to this, you get cardiovascular benefits from lifting...you don't get nearly as many of the benefits associated with lifting from doing cardio. Strength has to be the base, always.
