Last summer, the Kent Scout Jamboree - an event for around 7,000 young people aged 14–17 - booked the “Kent Drag Queens” and ran activities including drag workshops and bingo. Images shared online showed some participants dressed in drag, including boys in exaggerated female costumes - clutching fake breasts and bras. I’ve blurred faces here. In a post on Mumsnet, an anonymous user claiming to be a Scout leader said they raised concerns with organisers - arguing the activities risked reducing the female form to caricature, at an event where around half of participants were girls. According to the same post, organisers said it was an “inclusive” event, likening it to pantomime - saying it was about exposing young people to a diverse range of people and experiences.

This furry was at the GATE protest in Norwich against Girlguiding being for girls. Furries are not "harmless". They represent a real safeguarding red flag. Furry spaces online are unsafe for children, flooded with yiff (pornographic material and sexual activity involving anthropomorphic animal characters), diaperfurs (sexual fetish involving infantilism & nappies - google it if you have a strong stomach), and hyper-sexual content. Surveys show most male furries use furry pornography. Danny La Rue was a female impersonator. Barry Humphries played Dame Edna as a comedy character. Les Dawson & Roy Barraclough played Cissie & Ada as comedic tributes to the women of their times. Kenny Everett played Cupid Stunt as an OTT American starlet character. Again not drag. Hinge & Bracket were old-school musical vaudevillians. Harris Milstead (Divine) was a character actor & part-time drag queen, whose act wanted to be taken seriously. Lily Savage (Paul O’Grady) was an old-school drag queen, whose act was based on the tough women he grew up with. Regina Fong (Reg Bundy) was another old-school vaudevillian, whose act was camp, very funny & inventive, relying on repetition of a routine that the audience would know & emulate. They’d join in. None of these performers exhibited a deep-rooted loathing for women, & yet are now tarred with the same brush as modern day “drag queens”. You CANNOT compare these artistes with the talentless, runway, slut-dropping, sashaying wannabes, that people refer to as “drag queens” today, many of whom lampoon & degrade women in deeply misogynistic ways. (See Ru Paul’s Drag Race). They are not the same thing. Style-wise, they have much more in common with the various Houses (LaBeija, ‘68, Corey, ‘72, Xtravaganza ‘82, Ninja, ‘82, Ebony ‘78) & the Tea Dances & later the Ballroom Dances of New York, where gay men would dress up & “throw shade”. Learn the difference.

Hi all, sorry for my absence. After months of steady progress, Mum got really sick unexpectedly and things have been very hard. No hospitalisation this time but that was only because we have an oxygen machine at home now and I could nurse her. The paramedics were out 3 times. It has been scary, sad, and absolutely exhausting. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. I just couldn't deal with all the horrors here. The very first story I saw today was about sexual abuse and I am crying already. Mum is improving but the infection is not yet cleared and all her progress has been undone. It is horribly unfairly on her, she had been doing so well, was excited for her rehab course and to be driving again, and a stupid error by the NHS caused this. Sorry again, and thank you from the bottom of my heart to every person speaking up for women's rights, LGB rights, child safety, and all of our freedom of speech, belief, and association. A picture of the sun setting over the 3 Sisters, trees I named for me, Netha, and our other sister. Beautiful skies always make Netha feel close, and I have needed her so much these past weeks.

I haven’t had sex in almost 5 months now. My wife says she’s constantly exhausted from breastfeeding and the baby waking up every 2 hours. I leave at 6am for work, and come back late, still help with night feeds sometimes and weekend chores, but she just rolls over and says “not tonight, I’m touched out.” I feel invisible and unwanted in my own bed. I've tried suggesting we plan a date night without the kids, she called it pressure. Resentment is growing fast. What should I do before I start looking elsewhere?
