My childhood led me to believe that I would have to deal with truth serum, quicksand, disarming a bomb, and having to learn karate. So far it’s been mostly student loan debt, lower back pain, and existential dread.

I've been analysing Tesla since IPO in 2010 and I listened to every earnings call and investor meeting. So I experienced the entire arc. What saddens me is to have witnessed how the once great Tesla community was infiltrated by a bunch of crazies and ultimately taken over and turned into a cult like mupped show.

@hamids there was a korean article that suggested the pivot from hbm to regular dram was because nvda rubin wasnt ramping/selling well so they used the narrative that the pivot was to switch to higher margin products.

With SK Hynix and $MU crashes today, you’d think “oh, some major memory news or company financials must’ve been released that indicates less demand for memory going forward.” If that was your guess, as it was mine, you’d be wrong! The news: SK Hynix has simply shifted some production from less profitable chips to more profitable ones! 😂

Even if I didn’t contribute another dollar, $11M in my 401k will be roughly $330M by 65. That’s what 30+ years of compounding will do.

Honest moment. The posts I am most proud of are the ones most of you just scroll past. Deep research, expensive data (yes, I have to buy research reports) and foundational thesis level work. They consistently get the lowest views on my feed. Orders of magnitude lower than a screenshot or a one liner. Very consistent, last 6 months. I was against X subscriptions. But I am starting to think the free feed is punishing the wrong content. If I move forward, most of the income goes to a cause. The research already exists. It costs me nothing extra. I genuinely want to hear your thoughts.

On days like today, I usually do nothing. I have never been able to time the markets. That’s why I sell slowly when I feel things are overvalued…and a strong cash position helps cushion things a bit.

$MU $DRAM $SNDK A Bloomberg journalist just asked @MicronCEO a $200 billion dollar question today Q: Is Micron overbuilding? Could the next bust be coming? A: Sanjay's answer centered on one word. Discipline. The shell gets built. How it gets equipped depends on real time demand assessments. His exact words: "bring up this supply with discipline." That is not a company repeating the mistakes of previous cycles. That is a company that learned from every single one of them. Full Question: "Historically, memory is a cyclical business. Right? Periods of boom, periods of bust. I'm wondering if a $200,000,000,000 investment here in The US signals perhaps more of a confidence that that demand, that high demand is going to be permanent, or are there concerns here that, the industry could be overbuilding capacity? Sanjay's Full Answer: "What we are doing is building these fabs, which are very long lead time item, as you can see in in terms of what we are doing at Boise and New York, it really takes several years just to build, construct the shell. How we equip that shell [empty cleanroom] really very much depends on our latest assessments of demand at a given time. So important thing is to have that preparedness to meet the market demand, and memory has become a key enabler. It is a strategic asset for AI across consumer as well as data center industries. Because without memory, you don't really have that intelligence that is critically import important for the future road maps that our customers have. "Our investments, of course, will always be managed with discipline. Today, we are able to meet the demand of our key customers only about 50% to about two thirds in many cases. And it's really important that we, of course, bring up this supply with discipline and continue to really, fuel the growing demand provide and serve the necessary demand that is ahead."

It would be strange if someone called themselves a certified home builder after only taking a class without building a single home. White-collar jobs seem to be the only exception. The tests and inspections required to qualify as a home builder often exceed those needed to become a PhD, because you must defend the home you built against the test of time.

Someone can certainly *make* a billion dollars. That’s not the same thing as earning. Growing fast and disrupting markets also often means chasing and wielding market power, political influence, and scale. Take Airbnb. They heavily lobby politicians against passing housing laws to protect working class residents because it’s bad for their business model. Airbnb could not exist at its current scale and size without the housing market destabilizations, displacements, and exploits that are supercharging the evictions of working people everywhere from Puerto Rico to Jackson Hole. Now young people are planning for a future where they will never be able to afford to own a home while others have 20 and live off renting it out to them at extortionate rates with zero protections. Yes, a tiny amount of people can make billions of dollars doing that. And millions of everyday Americans are bearing the cost.
Paul Graham@paulg

Sure you can earn a billion dollars. I've been teaching people how to do it for 20 years. The way you do it is to start a company that grows fast. You don't have to do anything bad to make a company grow fast. You just have to make something people want. paulgraham.com/ace.html

When $MU & $SNDK begin to sell off.. and they will eventually. It's going to be wild. Might be in 3 months or tomorrow. But it will be epic. This reminds me a lot of $MSTR in 2024. Or $APP last year.

A single ChatGPT query uses 10x the energy of a Google search (2.9Wh vs 0.3Wh). AI data centers will soon consume as much power as two-thirds of all American homes. This is why I keep saying: energy is the bottleneck. Solve energy, solve everything.
