@luckynosu @raviollius Would you say that you'd prefer to have 100% of nothing, or 50% of something? The natural laws of supply and demand dictate that where there is a large enough demand for a product, that need must be fulfilled. The harm comes in trying to subvert these basic natural laws.

Blindly following laws that infringe upon morals is usually deeply immoral. This should be a wake up moment for Japanese companies to be better.

The culture of adherence to rules and regulations runs so deep that even if the rules don't stand up to scrutiny or reality, they'll still stand by them, because they are the rules.

@magozone23 I will disagree with you on this one. If something can't be bought than using it is not stealing. Digital content doesn't work like physical one, when it copied no one is losing anything unless there's profit to be made, but when restrictions in place, there's no profit to begin.

@passonco @syosin_kai People still buy the DRM free games, despite them being easily able to be pirated. It's not about cost, it's about providing the best and most worthwhile service. A company should understand that providing service to customers should come first. This is SQEX failure completely.

@koko971409 @yuka_9324 @LCbutter Japanese anime did not exist overseas as it was seen as unprofitable, until the huge international market was revealed through piracy and unauthorised fansubs. Not only was it the opposite of what you're claiming, piracy actually created the conditions for the market to thrive.

Publicly abandoned works should be stated as being supported if they intend to republish them, this should be the standard. The ownership of the culture should belong with the fans though.
