The 10th World Materials Forum is being commenced by Philippe Varin in Paris. Highlighting risky #deeptech and #social acceptability.

Vincent Yang, the Founder and Chairman of ProLogium Technology, was invited to the 2024 @WMaterialsForum in Paris, France, on July 11th. At the seminar, Vincent personally presented the benefits of ProLogium’s new battery architecture and discussed its implications for the electric vehicle industry. ​ ProLogium's next-generation batteries, based on this new architecture, feature high energy density, high-performance fast charging, and enhanced safety in modular designs rather than the traditional CTP (Cell to Pack) designs. With higher energy density, ProLogium's next-generation batteries enable more compact and lighter battery packs, improving Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) performance and reducing carbon taxes. The decrease in total volume and weight also lowers initial purchasing costs for consumers while improving overall driving efficiency (distance per kilowatt hour). Thanks to modular designs, battery cells can be easily recycled and reused, alleviating concerns about the residual value of second-hand cars. ProLogium's next-generation batteries also support ultra-fast charging from 5% to 80% State of Charge (SOC) in just 8.5 minutes, providing a driving range of approximately 300 to 400 kilometers. @Arkema_group Mathias Miedrich stated that when funding new technologies, it is vital to ensure these technologies can be built using existing facilities to avoid building new giga-factories.

According to Mathias Miedreich (former @UmicoreGroup CEO), the biggest risk about financing innovative industrial projects is the feasibility of scaling-up. For example: production scrap in battery manufacturing increases across all aspects of the supply chain with scale up.

Miyanaga San, Chairman @MHI_GroupJP, considers that to obtain social acceptability, it is necessary to take into account not only the local scale but also to see more global, to make the world a better place for the generations to come.

@GroupeEramet Mikael Staffas, CEO of Boliden, highlighted the importance of integration with local communities and unions in mining regions to gain social acceptance responsibly.

Materials driven by the energy transition, including aluminium, copper, and gold, are predicted to become the most valued materials by 2050, overtaking construction materials such as gravel and sand.
