@extremaratio69 You actually mention something that could be an interesting half-way solution: Japanese authors taking "donations" via various methods (there are a few like ko-fi, Patreon etc) could help. Obviously it's not the proper solution, but it's a start perhaps? (I do not condone piracy)

I personally have a pretty huge physical collection of things, so it's sad this perception of "everyone abroad is a thief" exists, but alternatively I hope it does make Japanese authors realize they should focus on Japan first and not censor things for foreigners.

日米以外で世界的なIP産業が育たないのは創作文化の土壌の問題と思ってたけど、消費者側にも十二分に理由があるのがよく分かる。金を落とさないどころか、盗む理由を正当化して義賊気取り。無料で視聴してる癖に内容にもケチをつけて嫌がらせまでする。そりゃ、クリエイター育たんし企業も撤退するわ。

日本と海外の、国名は書きませんが数カ国の方のコメントを読んでいて、 著作権に関する大きな価値観の差があって埋まらないことが分かりました。 日本の農作物の苗や種を盗んで母国で育てることも、「自分で育てたら自分のものだよ？何が悪いの？」 漫画も 「私の国の収入は低くて正規のものは買えない。だから海賊版を楽しむ権利がある」だの、 「他国の文化をわざわざ海賊版で見てやってるのに、何の文句があるんだ。お前らも漫画家の家に行って生原稿で読んでないなら本物は見てないだろう！」とかコメントしてきて、 もう会話が成立しない。 いいですか？ 著作権の守られない国にはいい作家なんか育ちません。 他国の漫画を海賊版で盗み見て喜んでいると、どうせ頑張っても本が売れないわけで、作家はやる気を失います。 そんな国ではよい作品を作る努力はされないので、 永遠に他国の作品を違法に盗み見て楽しむことしかできなくなるんですよ？ と言っても伝わらないか。 言葉の壁がXから取り払われても、価値観や文化の壁はまだ厚いなあ。

@teet_eak I have done so before, but I don't get the idea that the opinions of foreigners are held in very high regard. But there are some relatively straightforward actions one can take to reduce piracy in at least the West. In some of the more crime ridden countries, it's more difficult.

@teet_eak Which is dreadful but it's also good example: That piracy company relied on physical DVD sales, with the advent of things like Netflix this has dealt a crippling blow to that form of piracy. So I think the constructive answer is to seek avenues like this to heavily reduce piracy.

One of the interesting arguments the JP side has had against Stop Killing Games is that to make an offline version or would cost 50% to 100% more of the games original budget to do it. I'm not sure if this is just a blatant lie, genuine incompetence or total ignorance. We have guys with no access to the source code able to reverse engineer servers with, relatively speaking, minimal effort. If Joe Everyman can do it for 0 dollars in his basement without the nessecary information, how come companies that actually have that information apparently can't do?

Honestly I am almost amazed at how overtly sociopolitical language like this ended up in an E rated Nintendo game. I understand the market for this game is all in on pronouns and zero gender pansexuality but still it gives the impression that NoJ executives don’t follow western trends at all or they don’t understand the ideological conflicts regarding gender and sexuality in the US.
