A 56-year-old teacher in Arkansas, Tracy Matthews, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a classroom incident was caught on camera. It all started when a student said, "Bruh, I don’t have a computer." Matthews replied, "I’m not your bruh, I’m your sir." The student then sealed his fate by saying, "My bad, lil bruh." According to the police report, that's when Matthews snapped. He allegedly grabbed the student, pushed him against a desk, followed him out of the room, and then choked him against a wall until it was hard for him to breathe. worldstar.com/videos/wshh0I0…

@henryblakedev @phil_mcalister Look at growth of “administrative” roles v. teaching roles. And look at that v. enrollment and outcomes. In big blue cities, it is not a casual conclusion. Govt bloat isn’t an accident, it’s a voting block. And unfortunately that now includes teachers.

I agree with the conclusion on spending, but drawing the inference that schools are a “jobs program” does not seem like a fair causal conclusion. Without schools - or some replacement for them (and I agree the education system is broken) - there would likely be a decline in literacy, IQ, and related outcomes? But alternative ways of thinking about education should be a MUST for the 21st century.

Ok so boom…. My friend’s husband dm’ed me asking me to call him and sent his phone number. Mind you, he’s cool but we don’t know each other like that, outside of her. So I assumed it may have been a mistake and didn’t respond. An hour later, he sends the same message, asking me to call. So I reply back and say “I’m working, is everything ok?” My friend has mild health issues and I was afraid something could be wrong. No reply.…..

Last week, Rebecca Grossman—the woman who killed my two precious boys, Mark and Jacob, by speeding through a crosswalk—made a request that I would go visit her in prison… to “see the circumstances she is in.” And that she is “A victim” I’m still trying to process how someone could make such a request. While I can only imagine how difficult her life behind bars must be, the truth is this: I would trade places with her in a heartbeat. I would live in any prison cell, under any conditions, for the rest of my life… if it meant my beautiful boys could be alive again—laughing, dreaming, growing up, and chasing every beautiful future they deserved.

New: a leaked internal email written by Dave Stieber shows that the Chicago Teachers Union does not intend to abide by the decision of the elected school board. If they cannot get schools officially closed on May 1, they are encouraging teachers to use personal days or take unpaid leave to force a shutdown. It's ironic that an organization planning to protest to "save democracy" is willing to ignore the decision of a democratically elected body when it doesn't go its way. Even more ironic is that the school board is elected, rather than appointed by the mayor, in part because the CTU fought for that change.

🚨 The Chicago Teachers Union is trying to shut down schools on May 1st. This isn't a strike or a safety issue. It’s a "dress rehearsal" for a 3-year plan to use students as pawns in a political movement. From training teachers to "sneak" activism past admins to coaching 3-year-olds on anti-capitalism—the CTU is replacing curiosity with grievance. Our K-12 Extremism Tracker caught it all. It’s time to protect our classrooms. Sign the petition to keep schools open: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI… #Chicago #CTU #Education #KeepSchoolsOpen @jennicuster @MaryAnnAhernNBC @paschutz

@DrPatrick The LA Times has been complicit in implenting and supporting these bad policies. For years you’ve advocated for the politicians and their policies, and voting for them, to readers in your paper. Why aren’t you recognizing your culpability in getting here?

For a class project my daughter had to write a formal letter to three organizations...sports/business/entertainment/etc. The goal was to get a response to questions about the business. She heard back today. Super cool of them. She was thrilled. @ChicagoBears @dannymarkino

Accountability is what Illinoisans are owed for the terror that occurred during Operation Midway Blitz. President Trump and his accomplices should answer directly to the people of Illinois for what they unleashed on our state. chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/20…

@JohnsonAutomate @creepydotorg The Danger of a Single Story. The strongest predictor of success for children is married parents. More than socioeconomic status. So, yes, I’ll side with what the statistics say as opposed to a decades old single data point about a complete psycho.

In 1984, Josef Fritzl tricked his 18-year-old daughter, Elisabeth, into the basement of their home in Amstetten, Austria. Once she was inside, he knocked her unconscious, locked her behind a reinforced door, and kept her there for 24 years. Upstairs, the rest of the family continued living normally. Fritzl told his wife, Rosemarie, that Elisabeth had run away to join a sect. He forced Elisabeth to write letters from the basement to support the story. In that basement, without windows, ventilation, or medical care, Elisabeth gave birth to seven children. Three grew up locked there with her, never seeing daylight. Three others were taken upstairs, left at the door with notes, and raised by Rosemarie as grandchildren. One baby died a few days after birth, and Fritzl cremated the body inside the house. The truth came out in 2008 when one of the children became seriously ill and had to be taken to the hospital. It was the first time Elisabeth had been outside since 1984. Doctors alerted the police. Fritzl was arrested that same day and confessed two days later. In 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison. Elisabeth and her surviving children were given new identities and have lived under protection ever since. Elisabeth was 18 when she was locked in that basement. She was 42 when she saw daylight again.

Donald Trump owes Illinoisans alone $8,679,261,600. That doesn’t even begin to cover the investments decimated for businesses, the still-rising prices, and the jobs lost. Another total bust by the President. cnbc.com/2026/04/03/tru…
