@nrmehta The current messaging is perplexing and creates a lot of unnecessary anxiety. It’s very disappointing. Every technology has killed jobs but have always created more. I think it’s the same with AI.

@WoydeRick Agreed. Will be interesting to see how many are left behind. If the perception is millions then the public might not be so excited and might block stuff like dc buildout. My concern is whatever messages are coming out now (it's all fine or it will be bad) aren't working.

If you were a foundational model lab CEO, what would you say to the public about AI, knowing that your words count and will be scrutinized?

@nrmehta Some people will get left behind, yup, that’s for sure and new workers will do these new jobs better. In ten years when you tell a new developer how they used to write code and produce products before AI they will laugh and you’ll feel like a Neanderthal.

@WoydeRick Do you think there will be a gap between the killing and creation or will everyone seamlessly go into the new world with no disruption?

I don’t agree with that. It allows a lot of companies and people to do things with AI that we can’t do today. For instance, you can develop new products in far less time and less cost allowing you to produce more products than you could before. We’re iterating and developing faster than ever. No one’s lost their job.

@WoydeRick @nrmehta That statement is factually correct, but ignores the likely Truth: The whole point of AI/Automation is to: Eliminate large numbers of old jobs and Significantly reduce the number of new jobs. It's also unclear how many of the Old Workers could even become New Workers...

@FmrRepMTG It’s only a matter of time before we begin to switch from car ownership to short term renting. Walk up to a parking lot of driverless cars, swipe your credit card and off you go. I wouldn’t have said that a few years ago.

@fasterfreedom Parents should open a 529 account when a child is born. Fund it for 18 years and your costs will be minimal. The answers are already out there.

The average inheritance in America is $46,000. The average cost of college is $120,000. Your kids are starting in a hole before they even begin. Own assets. Leave them something real.

I refuse to prepare my kids for jobs that won’t exist. My wife and I prepare them to: - Think critically - Question everything - Lead as a servant - Normalize boldness The 2030 economy doesn’t need more worker drones. It needs more human beings who use their brain.

@TheJacobTurner Owning property is a great risk mitigator when things go sideways. I barely survived the 2008 recession. I would never put all my money in the stock market.

Real estate can be a great investment. Yet comparing it to an index fund is failing to shed light on two vastly different games. Direct ownership of real estate requires niche expertise + adding a job (maintaining the prop) + leverage. An index fund requires none of that.
theficouple@theficouple

People will say real estate is a scam or "not worth it". We paid $485k for a 5-unit deal and put 8% down with seller financing. All in we invested ~$45,000 and the cash flow is $1,100/mo. Thats ~30% cash on cash return + appreciation. ...Show me an index fund that does that.

I don't understand how EVERY software dev isn't making 100K+ a month... It's so easy. Build a SaaS with AI. Make it go viral. Boom. Paying users. It's literally that easy. (please stop taking business advice from people who have never built anything)

Yes I’m aware. There are people who cannot work and never will. Not just kids. What do we do with them? My son is 19 and in our community it appears most of the boys are doing fine. But I can’t know for sure. Many have created their own summer jobs, everything from developing Microsoft templates, starting bagel delivery businesses etc. However I’m very aware that’s not the case everywhere. Why would these kids choose playing the system?

Are you aware of the definition of unemployment rate? 4.4% employment rate does equate to the number of able bodied, non-working adults. So I dont see your point. I have several of these undriven (mostly young men between 18 and25) in my extended family and local peer groups. Consider yourself fortunate if you don't because its hard watching these folks play the system/family over being contributing family/vommunity members. So the people im speaking of would be the portion of the working age population not actively looking for work and complacent with the bare minimum.

Happy Tax Day. The top 1% pays 40% of all income taxes, the top 10% pays 72% and the top 25% pays 87% of all income taxes. Meanwhile the bottom 50% pays ZERO income taxes. For all of you actually paying taxes, do you think your tax dollars are being spent well?

@toujourspr72128 @ClayTravis I see Visa issuance grew from 89k in 2019 to over 300k in 2024. I guess it’s not enough? Why do they use illegal labor? Cheaper?

@WoydeRick @ClayTravis And that is the problem, now isn’t it? Our farmers need to Cowboy Up and use H2-A Visa labor instead of illegal alien labor.

@WoydeRick @ClayTravis My name is either Colonel or Special Agent. Since I have a BA & MS in Economics from UVA, unlike you, the most important things I learned is that Keynes was wrong and Laffer was right. That, and I wish Microsoft Excel was around when I was taking Statistics.

@toujourspr72128 @ClayTravis Most temporary seasonal workers came here illegally. No our farmers are not fine. They are being subsidized by our govt again. Many can’t afford to buy fertilizer this year. But I guess that’s not an entitlement. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They are illegal aliens, not “migrants”, and 4.4% Unemployment is considered to be full employment. Did you take a single Macroeconomics class
