@curtsalib @imjenell I agree that he's misstating the statistic, but I think he's referring to non-winning candidates in this context — meaning she received more votes in 2024 than he received when he lost in 2020.
It may not be intentional, but yes, it's still confusing.

I really wish Sharpton would get his facts straight. Biden got more votes in 2020 (81 million) than Harris did in 2024 (75 million). It's not good for Kamala when someone gets the facts wrong like that. He keeps repeating this, too. Makes it look like we need to engage in revisionist history to prop her up. Which, of course, we don't.

As you know, nobody has run an election and lost when it comes for President — has able to successfully come back and do so again, say maybe, Donald Trump. So, what is the likely hood that she calculates all of this and thinks I’m going to forgo history and what it would suggest.

@dcinsb I'd encourage you to research California Democratic politics, if you don’t think there are leaders and influencers who contribute to which candidates receive support and funding. And, honestly? That's not a crazy concept, and it's pretty common across politics.

The problem with California Dems, and the leaders of the apparatus, is that they clearly knew Swalwell was a known sex offender. And folks still endorsed him, as if their closer staff wouldn't have warned them of the rumors.
The so-called "electability" convo needs to go.

And, to clarify, I don't think the CA golden boy is a sex offender.
I just think he's made a slew of poor decisions that haven't come out yet.
There's only one CA Dem whose entire past has been laid bare for the world, litigated and re-litigated for no less than seven years.

@FishBanc I guess I don't really see the 3D chess with his comments. I think he's the only 2028 contender who confidently acknowledges Harris's place in a party where influencers and donors would prefer she moved on. He doesn't take the bait from folks who want to pile on her.

If you are a candidate or a supporter referring to someone's "right to run" it's a terrible sign for that someone. No one wants that endorsement. No one should ever be elected President for what THEY deserve, but rather, for what those they serve deserve. Pritzker knows this.

I have spent my entire career reporting on sexual misconduct by politicians. The barrier to publication anywhere with good lawyers is very, very high. Getting women to speak and share personal records and acquire corroboration from friends and colleagues is extremely difficult.
