Had to do some rearranging of my bookshelves, which involved hauling heavy books upstairs. A bit challenging when you're a little stick man like me.

For a brief moment each spring, wisteria vines bloom in the deep south, and can convert a ruin into a wonder. I wish I could have gotten a closer shot, but some unfriendly dogs convinced me to move along. 2026 Brian Braden Photography

There are some things that really hit you in the feels. Chitch from Berserk is one of those moments for me. The series is filled with so much that sadness and darkness, but it was only Chitch that made me cry. #Berserk

When writing, distractions can be the worst impediment. Sometimes I need a little extra motivation to push through.

Book 5 of the Mushroom Knight is coming along, to the point I had to send a message to the cover artist to up the page count for spine width from 800 to 820, almost at KDP's max for paperback at 828. To think, I was orginally worried it would be too short 😅

My preference is for books to also double up as weapons. Big solid chonkers that can be a doorstop, a club or a weight to flatten bent papers. Not that I've got anything against short books, I just love a good, mighty epic.

@SDDonovan Short chapters. I prefer to read them, it's easier to break up reading bouts with small chapters. However, I occasionally (usually a battle), have substantially longer chapters where neccessary. All this, inside massive tomes.

Do you prefer writing short chapters or longer ones? I tend to aim for 3 to 4K per chapter.

Currently writing the final battle for book 5 of the Mushroom Knight. So much that I've been planning for years taking place. This book has been the hardest to write with my chronic arm pain, but I'll get there, and then just one more in the series to go.
