@gabefollower “Graphics,” meaning high fidelity, don’t necessarily make a good game. That said, they still need to be visually appealing. Whether that’s done with extreme detail or a clean, minimalist aesthetic, anything you’re looking at for that amount of time needs to be pleasant.

@KirPinkFury This is pretty good for people who play in handheld mode, but does nothing for TV mode players like myself. Plus, most of the appeal of Switch 2 Editions, for me personally, is in the boost to 60FPS. I’ll still be crushed if we don’t eventually get Xenoblade Switch 2 updates.

I know the geometry looks different at a glance, but look closer and you will see that A) the characters are being viewed from different angles and B) details that weren’t appreciable before are now noticeable because they are interacting with light far more realistically.

The Switch 2 is incredible. I stand by what I said from day one. If you have the savings for it, it’s 100% worth the upgrade.

@orbalology They said a few months ago that they are doubling down on Switch 2 Editions because they can’t produce new games quickly enough anymore. I doubt the small teams on these S2Es would make an appreciable difference in dev times. I could be wrong though.

With this recent news, I think we'll be seeing fewer switch 2 editions of switch 1 games. Which I think is positive because developers can focus on making new switch 2 games instead of trying to make the older switch 1 games look decent on the new hardware.

It's funny how there's a resurgence of the idea that AC was actually wrong to ditch this stuff, in 2012 most people were desperate for it to be eradicated.
