Belfast's Theatre Royal opened its doors in 1793 and, until its closure in 1915, brought word famous stars to Belfast.

Depressing. These buildings offered so much potential. There is a real issue in the attitudes towards historic buildings. They are the life and soul of the city.

These buildings are an important part of North Street and have so much character. Restoring them to house new artist studios reflecting their past use would be 👌🏻.

#openbotanic who says pedestrianisation kills business. It looks to me like Botanic Avenue is far busier than Ormeau road today which seems to be suffering for cramped pavements , excess parking , dangerous parking and generally too many cars and not enough people. #deadormeau

Jeremy Hunt is saying we cannot max out the national credit card this morning. This is total nonsense. There is no national credit card. Instead it’s the job of government to make the money we use. And since it can always make that money it can never max out on credit.

A genuine piece of important advice to clients procuring a building. Do not base your choice of the architect who designs it on the relatively insignificant difference between the highest and lowest fee. Base it on whether they are any good or not.

In reality this is the majority of our new built housing. We fill in fields Willy Nilly with housing that locks you into car dependency & increases car usage igniting a cycle of bigger roads , more parking and dispersed communities which in turn “warrants” more of this housing

I worry that when people in NI say we need to building more housing this is what they are imagining. I fear not enough people are imagining dense car free living in the city centre and inner city through utilising mostly apartments and 3-5 storey terrace buildings.

These aerial images (from relinkbelfast.com) of Belfast's Westlink dramatically show how massive roads within cities cut them apart - and how finding ways to soften that divide, in this case by covering the road and creating a park, can reconnect detached parts of the city.
