There is going to be an almighty explosion once the radical trans-activists and Islamists in the Green Party finally wake up and realise that they’re sharing a bed.

@piers_J_morgan @afneil What came first the chicken or the egg? I don't think I've ever seen a more truly mediocre bunch of party leaders and yet there are people out there treating some of them like the second coming. Mass insanity.

@afneil You can make the same argument about all 'government' services. We pay a fee for democracy (taxes) so that those that need the sevices can use them. if you do not need them, good for you, but once the BBC is gone, its gone.

It’s a classic example of how the British establishment obsesses over the BBC. In the end they all coagulate around the same self-serving mantra — civilisation itself is under threat if we don’t have a publicly-funded BBC in which folks have to pay for it even if they don’t use it. Out in the real world almost nobody sees it that way, nobody is obsessing over the BBC. The number of licence payers is falling (even though it’s compulsory) and its audience is declining (and the decline is speeding up). On its current trajectory and on any version of its current funding model, it’s in long-term decline. Googleman will not be able to reverse that. Forcing people to continue to pay for something regardless of consumption will eventually kill it off. Ironically, those who claim to cherish it most will be responsible. It was always thus.
Michael Savage@michaelsavage

A classic of the politician oped, in which Rishi Sunak states the obvious and then recommends the BBC does what it’s already doing. The real question is why does Sunak keep writing about the BBC?

@LoveLeonBlue @Martina They are not eligible to compete in the female category because they are male not because they are trans. Trans men can compete in the female category, as long as they are not taking testosterone, so there is no blanket trans ban.

@Martina Hey Martina, I don’t want to debate or say anything hurtful, I admire you in so many ways. Here can we not agree that trans women are banned? Trans women are not biological women and that’s okay. But they also are not men. Always open for a good, honest chat. 🙂

For whoever needs to hear this I'm the only Jewish person to lead a political party - third largest in the country. The Daily Mail have been & always will be my enemy - they historically supported fascists & continue to do so. I'll take no lectures from them on Antisemitism.

I didn't call you a parasite. I called it parasitic behaviour. You can't even report the basic facts properly that everyone can see in seconds. It should be shameful for you and the entire Daily Mail.
Nicole Lampert@nicolelampert

@ZoeJardiniere I didn’t hound anyone. They came to me. The use of the word parasite is an antisemitic trope. I’d normally expect that of the leader of an antisemitic party but he should know better as a Jewish man.

Guardian columnist Zoe Williams claims the reason we don't have mixed football teams is because “women are too good”. 🙄 Now, I’m no expert on football - but you don’t need to be. You can see it with your own eyes. Watch an elite men’s match and an elite women’s match side by side. The men are, on average, quicker, stronger and more powerful - which changes the pace, intensity and physicality of the game. Saying that doesn’t diminish women’s football. It’s simply acknowledging reality. Men’s and women’s football are different - because men and women are different. This isn’t really about Williams - it’s about the kind of baseless arguments that get bandied around to justify men in women’s sports and spaces. Including by women themselves.

@SkyNews @RobHarris Athletes have to constantly prove they aren't taking performance enhancing drugs, that they are the right weight, the right age etc, the right severity of disability in the Paralympics. Why is having to prove eligibility for the female category seen as such an afront to dignity?

I don’t think the sports world is ready for how many unexpected positive tests they are going to find if every athlete is tested. Especially anxious to see how this plays out in sports like women’s basketball, where genetic gender testing isn’t done If they are truly going to do genetic testing on every female athlete, guaranteed there will be unexpected positives that will have a major life impact in the athlete who may have had no idea.

@stevemagness Steve, you’re missing it: this becomes a cudgel, and the real fallout is muscular, athletic, often minority girls being singled out. The right has for years accused Michelle Obama of being a man. You think they won't do that to young women who compete against their daughters?

If an athlete identified as female and was raised truly as a female despite DSD, thinks of themselves as female etc; of course an sry positive test will disrupt their world. You’re being very presumptive if you assume any female competing with sry gene would have certainly known by now in their life

@seaningle Every single female athlete who lost out to a male athlete should be awarded that rightful medal now. It is a travesty that biological males were ever allowed to compete in the female category on such flimsy science and without any consultation with the female athletes.

@KirstiMiller30 Every male athlete, however they identify, that competes in the female category does so at the direct exclusion of a female athlete. This is not acceptable. Allowing any male born athlete into the female category destroys the competitive sporting integrity of that category.

For trans women it's been based on T and E levels and a period of mitigation for 13 Olympics already with zero trans women winning a single medal. youtu.be/B8CzqxhZk7I?si… FACT~ The complexities of human biology have defeated all medical tests ever proposed by sports organizations to reliably divide biological sex into two distinct categories. 46 XY 5-ARD2 female athletes are not male athletes & no 46 XY 5-ARD2 female athlete has ever competed at elite male level in a single sport. And none have ever dominated a single female sport. insidethegames.biz/articles/11546… 46 XY 5-ARD2 females often have higher levels of testosterone. However, they also typically have insufficient levels of another hormone—dihydrotestosterone—to experience typical male development, hence their clinical classification as females. Thus, when the @WorldAthletics determines that some 46 XY females should be in fact be considered biological males, it misrepresents basic biological understandings and deviates from the widely shared position of the international medical community, such as reflected in statements by the World Health Organization, which recognizes XX males and XY females in addition to still more chromosomal variations. Why do we do the research? Because policy should be based on evidence, not bias. In a new paper Gollish et al. 2025 which shows that WA's DSD regulations aren’t backed by performance data. Caster Semenya Runs like a girl. open.substack.com/pub/rogerpielk… The science of sex in humans is not simple. Humans exhibit a wide variety of differences in sexual development. There is no simple binary. The basic biology At school, we are taught that females have XX chromosomes and males XY. This leads us to a place where we think the differences between men and women are obvious and irrefutable. The science tells an entirely different story. First, while relatively rare, humans can be born with a range of different chromosomes, including XXY and XO. Our chromosomes do not conclusively determine our sex. For example, in some cases the X and Y chromosomes can recombine, leading to a child with XX chromosomes and male sexual attributes. Indeed, the region on the Y chromosome that determines the development of male testes is located perilously close to the region the chromosome divides – leading humans as a species to have a relatively high frequency of sex reversal. Humans aren’t black and white; they’re not just male and female, there are many ways to be intersex. Nor does a single gene determine sex. The human fetus develops a “bipotential gonad”, which is then shaped by the actions of a large number of genes. Alterations to each of those genes can cause differences in sexual development. Variations in more than 70 genes have been linked to differences in sexual development. On top of this sit hormones, chemical messengers like testosterone, that the developing foetus produces and which trigger changes in genital development. Consider androgen insensitivity syndrome: the individual has XY chromosomes but their body cannot respond to certain male sex hormones. Or congenital adrenal hyperplasia, where alterations to a key gene lead to excess male sex hormones in people with XX or XY chromosomes. The complexities of the contributors to sexual variation – each variation making its own discrete difference – mean that simple binaries do not apply. It's two curves, with an overlap, and in that overlap zone is the intersex condition, It’s a spectrum. Working out how many people carry these differences is extremely challenging, but research put the number around 1.7 %. For perspective, that’s a similar number to people who have red hair.

@ThomasWillett9 Trans men have no performance advantage over men. Trans men don't pose a safety risk in any sport competing against men other than to potentially themselves. Any trans man taking testosterone to become their authentic self is automatically banned from Olympic competition.

@YouGov And only 12% thought that they should. It's ridiculous that the extreme, radical, minority opinion prevailed for as long as it did. Sanity and reality has been restored. Now every female athlete that has lost out to a male in their category should be awarded their rightful medal.
