This talking point that the Tigers are "willing to pay Valdez more than Skubal" is such a brain dead thought. I know this is a huge limb I am going on, but I am guessing the Tigers are willing to pay Skubal more than 38 million a year for 3 years. A LOT MORE.

@clay_snowden2 Hinch should have a good idea of who this guy truly is in the clubhouse. If it good things and the way his market has crashed, it should be a no brainer.

@DatabaseHit @SleeperTigers Giolito or Gallen are who I think are fit the Tigers “type” the best. Guys coming off injury or bad seasons trying to bounce back, and wouldn’t be a long term commitment

@confusion_reign It’s why he would have taken the $210M with Detroit. That’s around the number he was always shooting for anyways. But nobody offered it so he took the $40M and is now looking for the $170M this offseason to hit that total

I am curious what the Tigers main motivation behind not pursuing Alex Bregman again this offseason is. It seems like his addition would still be just as valuable as it would have been last offseason.

I really like Kyle Finnegan and I’m glad he’s back but as it stands we’re also basically just running out the same team as last year + Drew Anderson, which is… meh

Just for fun, let's say the Detroit Tigers have ~$50-55M to spend in FA this winter. IMO an ideal offseason would look something like this: Dustin May: 1 yr, $10M + $10M PO Ryan Helsley: 1 yr, $10M + $10M PO Hunter Harvey: 1 yr, $4M + $6M PO Alex Bregman: 5 yrs, $155M ($31M/yr)

@deeptocenter I really think the Tigers should target Bichette. He is the type of hitter the front office preaches, and if McGonigle isn’t going to be a SS in the bigs, we can’t keep rolling out Baez and Sweeney

@clay_snowden2 There is definitely things to address this offseason, we can’t do another season of Sweeney/Baez at short, starting pitching needs to be addressed and there will be plenty of good options and they will have to determine where McGonigle/Keith will play

I think firing, cleaning house, whatever you want to call it is far too drastic This organization is not in a bad spot at all. This idea that they will turn into WS favorites one year after making the playoffs in dramatic fashion just shows how knee jerk everyone is.

This would seemingly make Jace Jung the only real option if Colt Keith goes on the IL. Matt Vierling hasn’t played since the 12th, either, and I don’t think they’d add Anderson/Cruz/Lee/McGonigle/Valencia to the 40-man. Maybe Kevin Newman?
