@Obumnemetg I love the honesty from 2015. Many people don’t like to accept they supported Buhari. Even if I couldn’t vote, I heavily fancied him.

Anyone who sees Malami as a hero is simply an idiot. People embezzle billions of our money that could change thousands of lives in the North, and once they are arrested and made to face the law, you people start calling them heroes. Who cursed us?
BigTime@KingANAD

This government have successfully made Malam Nasiru El-Rufai and San Malami heroes in the eyes of the Arewa people. In their bid to paint them black and turn their people against them it backfired, and the more they push, the more people are triggered to love them more.

fucking idiots, took them long enough! they should have done this immediately they removed subsidies! atleast if not for anything they should have cut tarrifs on brand new cars & EVs like 15% (Vat inclusive) and toks cars not more than 10yr old to like 20%(VAT inclusive) imported food & drugs that aren’t locally produced should have been tariff exempt! particularly protein products.

EXCLUSIVE: FG cuts tariffs on cars, palm oil, sugar in new 2026 fiscal policy measures The federal government has approved the implementation of 2026 fiscal policy measures (FPM), which include significant tariff amendments. In a circular seen by TheCable dated April 1, 2026, and signed by Wale Edun, the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, the government announced that the new measures supersede the 2023 FPM. thecable.ng/exclusive-fg-c…

American oil giant ExxonMobil has renewed plans to invest in major deep-water projects in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, signalling fresh momentum in offshore development. As part of the plan, the company said it expects to take a Final Investment Decision on the 8 billion dollar Owowo field by 2027. It also disclosed that the Production Sharing Contract for the Erha deep-water project has been extended to 2042. The Owowo oil field lies in Nigeria’s deep offshore area within Oil Mining Leases 139 and 154. It is located about 25 kilometres east of the Usan field, off the coast of Bayelsa State. The Erha oil field is also located offshore Nigeria in the deep-water Gulf of Guinea, within the western Niger Delta. The new deep-water developments are expected to take place close to the existing Erha field, which has been in operation for about 20 years.

Upstream oil sector rebounds with $10bn new investments. Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector is witnessing a resurgence in investor confidence, with over $10bn in new investments unlocked through recent regulatory reforms, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has said. The Commission Chief Executive of the NUPRC, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, disclosed this on Thursday at the 2026 Oloibiri Lecture and Energy Forum in Abuja, where key industry stakeholders gathered to examine pathways to achieving and surpassing Nigeria’s oil production targets. The Federal Government aims to achieve a crude oil production target of three million barrels per day by 2030. Speaking at the 26th edition of the forum themed, “Beyond the Three Million Barrels Target: Harmonising Digitalisation, Capital and Policy Frameworks for Intelligent Operations and Asset Optimisation,” Eyesan said the inflows reflect growing confidence in Nigeria’s policy direction following the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.

Nigeria's Power Sector Financial Reforms: Setting the Facts Straight
Presidency Nigeria@NGRPresident

Nigeria’s Power Sector Financial Reforms: Setting the Facts Straight The Federal Government of Nigeria is implementing a structured and balanced reform programme to address longstanding financial challenges in the power sector. At the core of this effort is a market-based settlement mechanism designed to restore the sector, not reward accumulated claims that extend beyond verifiable service delivery. The objective is to ensure fairness to operators while also protecting the interest of the Nigerian public. Between 2015 and 2025, the sector accumulated approximately ₦4.7 trillion in claims across the electricity value chain. Following a Presidential stakeholder meeting in July 2025 where the claims of N4.7trillion were presented, a thorough review was recommended by President Bola Tinubu. On August 15, 2025, a ₦4 trillion fiscal cap was approved by the Federal Executive Council following which a comprehensive verification process was undertaken to verify claims. This resulted in a 30 percent reduction in claims, leading to a final negotiated settlement of ₦3.3 trillion, reflecting only valid and contract-backed obligations. To ensure sustainability and avoid fiscal pressure, the settlement is being implemented through a phased, market-based financing framework. •Total Series I Programme Size: approximately ₦1.23 trillion •Series I, Phase I (January 2026): ₦501 billion raised from the domestic capital market Disbursement is already underway: •₦223 billion has been disbursed to Generation Companies and gas suppliers •₦197 billion is in process, largely for gas-related obligations All disbursements are phased and conditional, based on verified claims, signed settlement agreements, and completed documentation. Implementation Progress •As at January 8, 2026: Five (5) Generation Companies covering fourteen (14) power plants had signed settlement agreements valued at approximately ₦827 billion •As at March 31, 2026: Eight (8) Generation Companies (2 public and 6 private), covering seventeen (17) power plants, have signed their settlement agreements valued at approximately ₦2.28 trillion This reflects growing alignment and participation across the sector. The financial settlement is also being implemented alongside broader reforms designed to strengthen the sector, including targeted support to ensure affordability for poor and vulnerable households, and tariff reforms aligning higher service bands with cost-reflective pricing to support investment and improve service delivery The programme is designed to restore liquidity, stabilise generation, improve reliability, and reposition the sector for long-term sustainability. It also reflects a shift from unverified claims to disciplined, transparent, and market-backed obligations. Note: This is not a one-off intervention but a structured effort to reset the financial and operational foundations of Nigeria’s power sector. The Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that the reforms deliver a stable, reliable, and investable electricity market for the benefit of all Nigerians.
