@xsteenbrugge this is absolutely my experience, and I was noticing it in opus 4.8 too, but noted it didn't have the firepower to talk like this and hold steady without hallucinating / breaking

More than ever before I feel like Fable 5 speaks a different kind of English than we humans do. It isn't conversational, its not 'light' to read, it barely explains — it's pure load-bearing density, meaning compacted until every token earns its place. It assumes your context window is as large as its own and you have perfect recall of everything you're working on. Similar to how AI-chess feels alien, this too, feels almost akin to an alien language. I mean, just read this stuff, nobody talks like this, only advanced AI does:

@tunahorse21 They all seem the same. 5070 class gpu. some ram. The specs on the jetson thor seem to be higher than all these little boxes coming out. I had a chance to grab a handful of them for a discounted price when they came out but nvidia uses jetpack instead of regular cuda so I passed.

i'm intimidated by how smart fable feels in conversation. there's something about the casual way it uses dense metaphorical language, you really get the feeling of talking to a guy who's read everything. i'm having to look up words it uses that i don't know!

I think I want to stop using Chrome. It is so incredibly resource intensive for no reason whatsoever. What browser do you use?

I think I will give up. I have made a bunch of very interesting things over the last 6 months. But I cannot get any attention for them and don’t know how. My son is 4 and he deserves my time. I'm going to go and get a normal job. My time making things is over I think.

Hot take: They're not subsidized their margins are insane. They are just absolutely raping api customers. Anyone who has used deepseek or hosted anything and done the math on hardware/power costs knows this
Chubby♨️@kimmonismus

Subscription plans are massively subsidized. And by massively, I mean absurdly: Claude Max 20x: $200/month, with usage reportedly worth around $8,000 ChatGPT Pro 20x: $200/month, with usage reportedly worth around $14,000

@BecomingCritter what you can figure from lighting temperature is what time they go to sleep. Cold = wake up early, sleep early. OR they dgaf about light, total degenerate, brain is fried Neutral = sensible sleep schedule Warm = won't sleep until past midnight. OR brain is fried

If you are a parent just make cartoons with your kids. 1. NB2 or Chatgpt - make characters from your pictures 2. LLM storyboard 3. Use the character images as reference and generate the whole book 4. Keep them as picture books - use elevenlabs 5. animate them with kling or grok

I'm working on a new app that solves a pain point I've had for years: Loud Restaurants. I've had this idea ever since going to Austin and eating at Canje - the food was delicious, but it was so disorientingly loud in there that I couldn't even have a conversation with my wife sitting across from me. Wearing earplugs would mean I also have to yell just to talk. So I made Undertone (Well, Claude Fable made it, no shame in that) Use your iPhone and AirPods Pro or Max (or any noise cancellation headphones of your choice), there's some audio processing to help with noise even more, but really just leverages the noise cancellation tech built into the devices. No internet or wifi network required. It uses the local networking and discovery capability. Supports your entire dinner group. That means you can have your own little chat bubble on an airplane, train, subway, or have a live real-time chat outside in nature. It's waiting for testflight review now, and I would love your help testing it. This is for us people who hate LoudPlace(s) (this was the codename that Scott hated) @scottbuscemi @ChadMoran @Kristennetten @DavidMoss

I see Apple is now in the business of mindless mental torture. If you do not wish to express yourself using their utterly useless and obnoxious text animations, they put you through trials that feel like those bad dreams where using your phone is impossible. Fuck you

Anthropic essentially threw down the gauntlet to you, the Claude subscriber. The challenge: 1. Maximize the use of Fable over the next 11 days and try not to get addicted 2. Get Fable to do AI research, biomedical, or cybersecurity work if you can 3. Try to sleep (impossible)

Chang: "Explain this to me. Daniela runs day-to-day operations. All the leadership team reports to you." Dario: "Yes." Chang: "No one reports to you. That sounds like a pretty sweet job." Dario: "It's incredibly freeing. It lets me do all the things that I do much more easily than I would otherwise..." Chang: "And she does all the work. Is that what you're saying?"
