@edels0n Workers are incentived to maintain the hours they spend working. Managers are incentived to reduce the hours they and their staff spend working. There lies the discrepancy.

Two alternative explanations I’m seeing on a daily basis IRL: - workers saving time and spending the remainder of the day here (or on Netflix or second jobs) - workers saving time but the way work and projects are organized doesn’t enable the time savings to be used In both cases: zero incentive to signal these productivity improvements. Especially if you add the aspect about how anxious workers are about AI from the same survey to the equation.

Or it’s simply showing missaligned incentive structures: why signal time saved in your work if there is more downside (e.g. layoffs) than upside? Most companies are trying to win the AI era by bolting AI features to a broken stack. That’s like putting a jet engine on a stagecoach. linkedin.com/posts/alexande…

The spelling error is how you know it was human written. Sorry, that should have read: “The spelling error isn’t just accidental — it is a demonstration of the essential nature of my humanity”

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion. $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

It's also important to understand that the tariff rates that foreign countries are supposedly charging us are just made-up numbers. South Korea, with which we have a trade agreement, is not charging a 50% tariff on U.S. exports. Nor is the EU charging a 39% tariff.

@IanCarrollShow Ok, so the money I as a retail investor invest into an ETF issued by BlackRock is BlackRock‘s (or even „Megcorp‘s“) money? Gotcha. Solid reporting. Mind blown 🤡

@cstanley Well, since X shows you impressions vs. YouTube shows you views, on X people don’t actually have to VIEW it to count towards that number. To explain it with an anology even Elon might understand: it’s like comparing FSD to actual full self-driving.

Musk's idiotic 'blackmail' comment reflects the impossible contortions so-called free marketeers engage in when confronted with the logic of their neoliberal system. Companies aren't obliged to advertise on Twitter, or give Musk money. They don't need a reason not to. But Musk essentially threatens to bring in judges (regulation) when companies choose not to give X money, or make a case not to give his company money.
Linda Yaccarino@lindayaX

Today @elonmusk gave a wide ranging and candid interview at @dealbook 2023. He also offered an apology, an explanation and an explicit point of view about our position. X is enabling an information independence that's uncomfortable for some people. We're a platform that allows people to make their own decisions. And here’s my perspective when it comes to advertising: X is standing at a unique and amazing intersection of Free Speech and Main Street — and the X community is powerful and is here to welcome you. To our partners who believe in our meaningful work -- Thank You.
