Isn't this so true: To spot the real expert, choose the person who predicts the job will take the longest and cost the most. Usually when creating estimates, management goes for the lower cost, shorter timescale options because of the pressure they are under, but in reality a job takes the cost and time it takes.

@RachelVT42 Oh i guess that's not true anymore, i think microsoft said that Windows10 was the last version and there would be only updates on Windows10, but now there is Windows11 you need to buy and there is talk about a Windows12.

@RachelVT42 Anyway .. good thing is we don't need to pay for new versions of MacOS & Windows anymore, as since they are making money of their "app. stores" they want you to run the latest version of their OS, so you can run all the software in their app store.

@the_zb_ @DRSunlocked Makes you wonder if when it is stationary and FIA test it returns within 400ms, but it takes more time when during a race the airflow is pushing it down. Sort of like the issue with the compression test. Difference between stationary test and race conditions.

@DRSunlocked You’re the second person I’ve seen mention this. The regulations are not ambiguous - movable aero has to return to a fixed (non-variable) position, and it must transition within a 400ms time window from activation.

Why is the Mercedes front wing variable? I noticed this all last weekend. The Merc front wing was closing at different speeds depending on the corner, and that at it's slowest, it was closing in about 800ms, twice what the rules allow. This gif is slowed 4x and lines-up two corners on Russell's car where the wing closes much faster and much slower. Anyone have any theories as to what might be going on?

@Athenian48 @AJamesMcCarthy @peterrhague The first falcon9 landings where on water, you dont want to risk a ship or landing pad when you havent mastered the landing yet. So i think they announced that when the next 2 water landings go well they will try a tower capture. But yeahr might be a bit soon to call it recovered

@AJamesMcCarthy @peterrhague He's probably meaning the soft water-landings of Starship, which shouldn't really count as "recovered".

They have put over 10,000 commercial satellites into orbit. Falcon 9 now flies more missions each year than the ostensibly reusable Shuttle did in 30. They are the first to recover both stages of a rocket from orbit. Yes, they are obviously revolutionary, don’t be salty.

@cqcqcqdx I guess it not only changes voltage but also current. If secundary voltage goes down, current can go up so you can use a transformer for things like a spotweld device. Have a transformer with few secundary windings but with thick wire to produce a lot of current.

The absolute worst thing possible happened. I ordered the boards with a v-score so I could snap them apart into 9 separate boards, they did not come with it. I don’t even know where to go from here, so incredibly bummed. I guess I will have to order some more boards.

Very interesting 10 engine spin prime + igniter test from Booster 19 (27 second mark). This is the first time we have seen an igniter test performed with propellant loaded onto the vehicle. Usually these are done hours before testing. The audio from this is awesome @LabPadre

@MANonCompliant @HannahIamthest1 It's all fresh water as the salt water was flushed out by the ijsel river which ends in the ijselmeer. The dyck has two discharge sluices to let the river water into the sea when water level in the lake is higher as the sea water.

Assuming that sweetwater is brackish, then wheter bodies are still left will depend on the pH and actual disolved salt. The ocean absorbs calcium very quickly (it's how bi-valve shells are recycled naturally) by basic pH and free cl to absorb the calcium in dead marine organisms. I suspect the bones will be, at a minimum, brittle if it's brackish water.

The photo is a steel box that the Dutch have built so they can dam the sea around a Lancaster Bomber. Why are they pumping over a million euros into recovering it?? Why are they doing this? Simple, they are trying to recover the 3 airmen that were never recovered. The Dutch people say they owe it to all allied servicemen that died for the liberation of Europe! @typesfast The space shuttle also didn't need helium to pressurize its tanks as it just vaporized some of the oxygen/hydrogen to pressurize the tanks. Which starship also does with oxygen/methane but which you can not do with the RP-1 on SpaceX Falcon9 as it is Refined Petroleum.

Without helium, TSMC cannot produce chips and SpaceX can't launch rockets (at least until Starship comes online using a design that remarkably does not use helium because they recognized the likelihood of future shortages). Demand for chips and rockets are increasing exponentially.
