@artMISSIONARY @Salt_n_Smoke I am reading one of the many languages written with Latin characters, but that has nothing to do with the nonexistent "reformed Egyptian" that Joe the con artist made up. Are you actually this stupid, or just trolling?

Dear LDS- Quit telling everyone that Joseph is a true prophet and that the church is true. It’s very deceiving and not truthful. Do your missionaries let the innocent people know the truth? Of course not. LDS are faced with a hard fact, Either Joseph Smith is a liar, or the church is completely wrong right now. - Keep this simplified picture of facts showing Joseph lied, publicly, in a sermon/address to his own church members, then the current church admitting he actually did have plural marriages! Is that how a Christian filled with the Holy Spirit should act? Lying to his own church? Links are in the comments.

@artMISSIONARY @Salt_n_Smoke Repeating your claim that he "told the truth" over and over won't change reality: he was a con artist long before he decided to run a religion con. He was a liar, whether we're talking about his magic wheat or his "reformed Egyptian" golden plates that mysteriously disappeared.

The LDS church posted its first net loss in membership in 2025. The church is consolidating wards/stakes and selling off real estate to developers. Anecdotally, friends of ours who are LDS-members say our former ward is “unrecognizable” anymore. A believing member writes a thoughtful book exploring why this is happening and some of your “most faithful” view it as a threat and maintain that everyone else is just wrong. PSA to all the sane Mormons: Your zealots are driving everyone away.

@LibertyEthics The Trinity is not found in the Bible. People have falsely assumed that "I and my Father are one" to means "My Father and I are one and the same". Keep in mind Jesus also told the Apostles to be one.

My thing on this has nothing to do with hating on Mormons. It's just total bafflement at the argument that they're Christians. They're just... not. They're not even monotheists! Their god is not the God that created the universe. They deny the Trinity. I could go on. Just, stop.

Mormons are often very personally offended when Christians say that Mormonism isn’t Christian. This is dumb. Joseph Smith’s first “encounter” with God involves God telling Smith that every creed Christians profess is an abomination to God. Every creed. That includes the Nicene Creed. They reject who God is, who Jesus is, the nature of salvation, the nature of exaltation, the clear teaching of Scripture, etc.. Mormonism rejects the very core of the Christian faith in all its essentials. Joseph Smith knew this but nowadays they are playing mind games with their own people and with real Christians. Either THEY are Christians or WE are. It’s one or the other. Not both. When asked “Will all be damned but Mormons?” Smith replied, “Yes, and a great portion of them unless they repent and work righteousness” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 119) The Doctrine and Covenants (1:30) leaves no doubt to the Mormon teaching of exclusivity when it says the LDS Church is “the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased ….” Brigham Young, second only to Joseph Smith in Mormonism said… “Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity” (Journal of Discourses 10:230). “The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God” (Journal of Discourses 8:171). I could easily give you pages of them saying they are the only true Christians and how we are all ignorant beasts and our doctrines are wrong. They knew at the time they had a different God, gospel, Scripture, and system of belief. But now it has become expedient to pretend otherwise while still preaching all those false and unchristian things. Mormons, your leaders are gaslighting you and you are gaslighting us. You aren’t Christian but we want you to be. Flee from Mormonism. Flee from Joseph Smith.

Mormons: We are Christians! Christians: You affirm the Nicene Creed? M: No. Absolutely not. C: The Trinity? M: No way. C: Jesus was always God, at least. M: No, he was born of Heavenly Parents. C: Jesus is born of a virgin at least. M: No. God the father came down to ‘father’ Jesus the old fashioned way. C: Do you celebrate the Eucharist? M: With water. C: Does your Church have apostolic succession? M: Oh for use, in 1839 John the Baptist and St Peter, Paul and John appeared to Joseph Smith and gave him the Aaronic and Melchezidich priesthood. C:…what? Do you adhere to any of the ecumenical councils? M: No. Absolutely nothing of Christ’s Church existed after the Great Apostasy. C: The what? When did that happen? M: We don’t know. At some point. C: But God created the universe, at least? M: No. God reorganized existing matter. Matter is eternal and so is our intelligence which is the same as god the fathers’. C:… M: And we have temples where you go to get an endowment— C: Mormons are not Christians. M: Yes we are! It says so on the meeting house! C: Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken!

@ztrussell It didn't over power the church. Peter, James and John restored the church as prophesied.

Catholic article here but even as a Protestant the central point is so important to me: Belief in Jesus is the key thing that makes someone a Christian, because what is ultimately affected is someone’s eternal destination. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). Getting saved is not the end of Christianity but it’s absolutely the starting point. To believe in Jesus means to trust that he saves us, not our good works, which is what actually frees us to do good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). In other words, “belief” in Jesus is everything. It’s the all-important moment that someone has “crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). It is a singular moment in time that changes someone for all of time. This is also why it’s so important to define who we mean by Jesus, and not simply because we’re being picky. Jesus himself said that false messiahs will appear, even do miracles, and try to deceive people. And a false Jesus cannot save you. We don’t want anyone to have a false sense of eternal security.

From a 2023 @cworldreport with @TradVat2, a former member of the LDS: CWR: Mormons consider themselves Christians, although their beliefs are anything but orthodox, Trinitarian Christianity. Did you consider yourself a Christian in your days as a Mormon? Do you think most Mormons consider themselves to be orthodox Christians? Christiansen: I certainly considered myself a Christian as a Mormon. But by Christian, Mormons simply mean, “someone who purports to follow Jesus Christ.” The early history of Christianity and the import of those early councils is lost on most Mormons, who do not understand the context and controversies behind them sufficiently to understand why, generally speaking, the Nicene Creed is such a marker for who is and who is not a Christian. I do think most Mormons today consider themselves Christians; I do not think they would use the term “orthodox.” But again, what they mean is that they try to follow their own understanding of Jesus Christ, not that they follow the teachings of traditional Christianity when it comes to the nature of Christ. In his Introduction to Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis briefly addresses the question of what defines “Christianity,” and he settles on belief, rightly, because he notes that if it merely about doing good for trying to follow Jesus’ teachings, anyone is a Christian if they so self-identify.

@artMISSIONARY Oh, the LDS church is definitely not suffering. They own lots of real estate… on the backs of people who were told to pay them before buying food for their families. I’m pointing out a trend that some aren’t willing to accept - it seems people aren’t buying that anymore.

Gross. More proof LDS members worship Joseph Smith. They justify even the corrupt things he did. Name another group of people that openly defend pedophiles besides Mormons, Muslims, and closeted pedophiles.

The Book of Mormon claims to be ancient scripture — but it's riddled with problems. The original 1830 edition had thousands of grammatical errors and historical issues. Many were quietly fixed over time. Its theology also shifted under Joseph Smith — from more Trinitarian-leaning to pluralistic gods. It directly copies large sections of the King James Bible—including the KJV's own 1769 translation errors. Roughly 30% of Isaiah appears in the BOM — this is plagiarism by any modern standard. Joseph Smith called it "the most correct book on earth." How can that be with so many obvious issues?

The #LDSChurch has engaged in an intensive, top-down branding pivot to emphasize its Christian identity and move away from its historic nicknames (#Mormon). The marketing objective: try to convert the traditional Christians - that's where the money is.
