Eight years later the empire surrendered, and the man who doubted himself in June of 1775 walked away from power instead of seizing it, stunning the world. 251 years ago today, the American experiment got the one leader it could not have survived without.

Yes my 2 great grandmothers. I didn't talk to my great grandfathers, one i was to young they were divorced & only remember seeing him once. The other (drank & gambled) very poor. I dont remember ever talking to him i guess he hung out with the men folks & after my g grandmother died he lived at my great uncles & my 2nd cousins next house down from us & i didnt go there, he died i think after I left home.

I have. My great-grandmother Kitty was born in 1890, and she passed away in 1996... ' She met people like Wyatt Earp, Thomas Edison, and so many more... She had the best stories about history and who she met, and a ton of pictures of the history of it.... How about you?
