@BayAreaNewLibs I literally know one person who thought it was sincere and was put off by it, and she lives in LA. I'm not sure we've ever had an anti-Zionist Jewish politician here (Peskin and Ronen are Zionists, Preston never said)

@behindthenet I personally know quite a few Jews here that were pissed off by what he said recently. It was unnecessary and didn't help him; the Palestine voter will not vote for a Jew unless they are anti-Zionist.

Every single word of this is 100% correct, but I can't help feeling like it's a bad precedent for YIMBY groups to endorse in areas that are pretty tangentially connected to housing. Focus has prevented YIMBY from being drawn into the omnicause before. cayimby.org/blog/why-calif…

@BayAreaNewLibs Yes, it was closer in time to Herzog's insane statements! He didn't piss off many Jews in SF, we know where he stands. But he told Moses Levitsky just to make sure, and now brought Tye Gregory back. Bottom line: Scott didn't focus on housing & it muddied the perception of yimby

@behindthenet That was a few months after 10/7 dude! He was the chair of the Jewish Caucus, which BTW he had to resign from because he pissed off too many Jews going on about genocide, which many find very offensive.

@BayAreaNewLibs He posted about his visit with the president of Israel. He pots about his positions on Israel all the time.

@behindthenet I've been to many Wiener events since he launched his campaign and he literally has never mentioned Israel once, even the ones that were interrupted by Palestine protestors!

@BayAreaNewLibs Scott chose to make this his issue. It hasn't been an issue for dozens of Jewish SF politicians going back decades. He seems to have satisfied antisemites like Garry Tan with his position.

@behindthenet He's not running a pro-Israel campaign; he doesn't choose what issues his opponents focus on. He was never going to satisfy the antisemite or anti-Zionist voter so the best he can do is minimize the damage.

@BayAreaNewLibs If you're an AIPAC supporter, it's a clear signal that he doesn't mean any criticism he might level against Israel. It shouldn't be an issue but the freakout over the "Connie Chan fights ICE" AIPAC ad buy suggests it matters to voters. None of this matters if he sticks to housing

@behindthenet The number of voters who care about exactly how long you've been opposing Netanyahu rounds down to zero. As it stands, virtually no one votes on foreign policy anyway. Americans are a parochial people.

Peter Thiel said women and non-white people shouldn't have the right to vote. Scott Wiener's congressional campaign is funded by Thiel's friends from Palantir and it's somehow not an issue

@exactlyindeed @OXHarryH1 Mass surveillance - supported March 2024 Prop E Sharing data with ICE - did not object to Flock doing it Homeless sweeps - his DCCC slate had an anti-homeless rally and supported Grants Pass More people in prison - supports Jenkins Network state and AIPAC - all his donors

@BayAreaNewLibs You don't have ex-AIPAC guys like Tye Gregory and Trevor Chandler (or Matt Dorsey) in your camp and say you only stopped supporting Netanyahu five years ago if you oppose AIPAC. Some Jews did think he meant what he said about genocide but he clearly walked it back with donors

@behindthenet He's pro-Israel relative to Chan for sure, but he's more of a J Street than an AIPAC guy. In fact he's pissed off a lot of Jews with the genocide stuff, which I think was a miscalculation on his part but whatever.

@BayAreaNewLibs I don't understand why nobody is proud of his long-standing relationship w AIPAC. He's clearly the pro-Israel guy here, and told local AIPAC donors as much just a couple weeks ago. It's a distraction from housing for sure, but Josh Gottheimer's supporters are proud of it

@behindthenet I don't actually think most of those are true (he's not even supported by AIPAC) and if anything his positions on social issues (many of which I agree with) are even more toxic outside of SF. We need more left-wing and right-wing YIMBYs so it's not associated with any single guy.

@stefanoscalia @themtorres Basically agree with you all the way here except for one area that has the lowest percentage of green space in the entire city, and is also ripe for housing, retail, and transit. I’ve done the homework – 20-30,000 housing units right there at least, plus *minimal* traffic impact:

I'm so tired. I don't want a single new park in San Francisco. We don't need them. At all. I just want housing. Market rate. BMR. Whatever. Just housing. Retail. Transit. I don't care about parks or open space. We have so much in the bay. We're drowning in it.

This idiot is so wrong. Such a stupid post. He must be blind because S.F. could use way more public green space. But he actually doesn’t give a shit. At his first opportunity he’s going to to a mansion in Ross. Stefano fucking sucks and no one should listen to him about anything

@MikeFellman SFH in San Francisco also requires essentially building a massive house that could have been multi-family and then selling it for the same price as 3-4 units

It's not a fluke. Multifamily fundamentals are rapidly improving in San Francisco and are still searching for a bottom in Austin.

@MikeFellman In single family Austin gar far ahead. So one fluke month SF tied for one category

@PippengerHarlo @barakgila @Scott_Wiener The best part is Wiener didn't do anything about a stabilization fund for his first 15 years in office, and we haven't gotten a single consequential transit project in SF because of CEQA reform

In SF, pro-transit liberals have the chance to elect @Scott_Wiener to Congress. meanwhile, some west-side homeowners will vote for the conservative status quo. Scott Wiener is the Progressive on transit.

@OXHarryH1 So even the n*zi LLM says Scott a) supports Flock; b) said nothing about them sharing data with ICE. Denying a connection between Garry Tan and Wiener is hilarious. And you tell me, in a city rife with corruption, how two of Scott's DCCC candidates ended up at Flock

@OXHarryH1 Dumbest LLM on earth can't answer this for you. Mass surveillance. Scott supports March 2024 Prop E, Flock cameras. Garry Tan, Flock investor, is his tech bundler. He placed both Trevor Chandler and Lily Ho at Flock. And he said nothing about Flock sharing data with ICE

If LeBron James played soccer as a kid he wouldn’t have made it bc he woudlve been priced out by age 12 when his mls next club ramped up annual fees to 3500 and added a 5000 dollar tournament dues demand on each family.

I don’t understand why candidates — at least the ones who are genuinely not bought and paid for — don’t denounce the super PACs that are spending money on their behalf more often. It’s not like the super PAC will just say “oh our preferred candidate denounced us, let’s pack it up and call it a day.” The super PAC is gonna keep on doing what they’re doing & the candidate gets political points for calling for getting dark money out of politics.
Sally Goldenberg@SallyGold

@InsideCityHall @DarializaforNY @errollouis @RepEspaillat @courtneycgross @ZohranKMamdani Both candidates raised their hands in the affirmative when asked if super PACs should be abolished. @DarializaforNY then asked @RepEspaillat to denounce donors of his she said are going after her in racist and dehumanizing ways.
