And so on... I would argue only the next 6-7 halvings are somewhat relevant.

Genuine question: If your node doesn't mine, what exactly is it securing? It can't produce blocks. It can't reverse transactions. It can't punish bad actors. It just watches. BTC has 15,000+ "nodes" and 3 mining pools run the show. How is that different from trusting 3 companies? 15,000 spectators don't decentralize 3 mining pools

@J33412279544 @AquaBitcoin Some chars at the beginning and some chars at the end are ok - it takes some computing to find an address you have the key with those same digits, but it's viable during the attack timeframe. Not more than 6-7 tho. Research difficulty of creating "vanity address" - same principle

@AquaBitcoin On average 10/36ths of an address will be digits. If hackers can create an address with the first and last few characters identical, how hard is it to create 17 or so digits instead? Seems like a cool idea-- easy to read and effectively a random sample
