The worst part about modern war is that we do this thing where we only hit "military targets" and not go after population centers. The last half century of warfare has been zero stakes which is why it's been disastrous. We could turn Tehran and Tel Aviv into a fucking crater, no Americans would care. Trump's polling would skyrocket if he put a Buccees and Golf Course ontop of the graves of 10 million Iranians. But no, we do this dumb game that wastes time.

I subscribe to the theory that your native language has a strong influence on how your perceive the world. Which is why I have a sort of morbid curiosity with the French, as they seem to be analytical in a similar way to English speakers, despite how different their language is
