@ChanFromMinny @esidery Jaylen Brown, Hugo Gonzalez and a 1st is nothing?

@M_Gerber17 Why are we still using aluminum at the college level? Elite level can hit with wood at all levels. Those are the guys that should be thinking of going pro. The rest need to be realistic about their prospects and play for the love of the game.
English

Why are we still running the majority of amateur summer ball with wood bats?
It’s not because scouts “need to evaluate players with wood in their hand.” They watch college hitters swing metal all spring long.
95% of amateur hitters have no business swinging wood — especially at 14u-16u. It slows their development and kills confidence.
The elite guys can handle it. But I’m a firm believer we should be using way more metal during the summer for the rest of them.

@dump74217 @WBZNightside @MIAA033 Not defending anyone, the situation is a circus. The facts are not in dispute, both sides have acknowledged who made the decision.
English

@bmulks @WBZNightside First, fuck the @MIAA033 .
Second, ALL AD’s and Superintendents are pieces of shit on a power trip.

At Ipswich HS, smoking a cigar after graduation is a tradition. Boys lacrosse players celebrated w/fake cigars, but the MIAA deemed it a tobacco-rule violation. Several players were suspended, ending in a semifinals forfeit. One player's father discussed.

@bmulks @SmittyOnMLB @TheGregHillShow I don’t think that’s right. Theo is part of ownership and just an occasional advisor.
English

Sam Kennedy on @TheGregHillShow on Craig Breslow’s job security: “A change there is not even on the table.”
English

@NewRoyalRooters @SmittyOnMLB @TheGregHillShow They brought Theo in for that reason and the team has performed demonstrably worse…….
English

@SmittyOnMLB @TheGregHillShow Fine by me. He’s smart and has been some great and some horrible moves. I do however hope that ownership insists he has a GM or senior advisor who can challenge him

@ryan_bdb @ITeachFirst4 3rd week in June is normal and has been since at least the 80s. Go back around Labor Day here in New England.

@MedianPolitics @BaseballCentraI bad habit? when you bunt you are supposed to catch the ball with the barrel..........
English

@BaseballCentraI The problem is it creates a bad habit of pulling back on the ball.

@Bennieeexyz if shes bleeding she aint knocked up is how dad's look at it

My dad was heading out for groceries.
Dad: Need anything?
Me: (thought about it)
Me: (needed pads for my girlfriend who was staying over)
Me: (wondered if this was too weird to ask)
Dad: Anything at all?
Me: Actually yeah. Can you grab some pads?
Dad: Sure.
Me: You're not going to be weird about it?
Dad: I'm 56 years old. I've been buying pads for your mother for over 20 years.
Me: I just figured most guys get uncomfortable with that stuff.
Dad: Boys get uncomfortable. Men step out and buy whatever is needed without making it anyone's problem. A man understands that nobody controls their cycle. It's a natural thing.
Dad: (heading for the door)
Dad: And if you ever meet a guy who's too embarrassed to do it tell her to bleed on everything he owns.
Me: DAD.
Dad: (already in the car)
Me: (sat there)
Me: (that man has never once made anything more complicated than it needed to be)
Me: (he came back with three different options just in case)
Me: (didn't say a word about it)
Me: (just put them on the counter and started unpacking the rest of the groceries)
Me: (I want to be like him when I grow up)

@OldMensBaseball @JeffStanek1 There are exceptions to every rule. The well being of the human being, especially children, is paramount to anything else. Keep the well being of the human ahead of wins, losses or even the love of the game.
English

@JeffStanek1 @bmulks When i coached rec ball, I made sure to communicate with the travel coach, so we were on the same page.
English

Dads, stop letting your son pitch for two different teams throughout the week.
Should his coaches be aware of what he's doing in his other league? Yes, they should try to be.
But as the parent, it's your responsibility to STOP THE NONSENSE. Pitch counts for kids don't exist for the league's sake. They exist for your kid's sake!! 75 pitches for Team A on Friday then 50 pitches for Team B on Sunday CANNOT happen.
It's shameful, and abusive toward your son. You are going to ruin his baseball future. Stop being a moron. Use your damn brain. Be the adult.
English

@redsoxkatelyn You don’t think the training staff explained to Wong why a healthy Narvaez was the starting catcher vs him playing one handed most of the year?
English

That's not a good solution. The kid is probably needed more at the lower level! Both coaches need to communicate with the parents, and the parents need to decide to be honest about when the kid pitches in the other league. Or come to some understanding before the season starts. Making a blanket choice for kids to pitch in travel ball rather than local rec ball is bad for the game.
English

The Red Sox have optioned Joe La Sorsa to Triple-A, per @AriA1exander.
Bringing up Nate Eaton for a few games and going short on the pitching staff until Jake Bennett is ready for Wednesday?

English

And the only way to truly “police it” is to have the coach at the “lower” level understand that kid is never allowed to pitch if he is a pitcher on the “higher” level.
There is no possible way to try and manage it and pitch for both teams without putting the kid in a dangerous position. Less than 9% of high school baseball players are fortunate enough to play in college. These kids shouldn’t have to deal with arm pain for the rest of their lives.
English

The issue is that each league had their rules, but when kids play multiple leagues, unless parents communicate with both coaches, there's not a good way to police it. And the reason this post was aimed at dads is that they are the only ones who can stop it.
I know dads who tell the rec coach that their kid is good to throw their 75-pitch limit when the dad knows the kid is going to pitch for travel ball two days later. Flagrant abuse of a child's arm (talking 9-12 year olds)

@rick19341 @stephenitalia93 Yes and the base runner scoring from second base must make an exact 90 degree turn at 3rd base and stay on the dirt path from 3rd to home. 🤡
English

@stephenitalia93 Example: If a runner is on first base and the shortstop throws to second, the base path is the straight line from first to second. The runner must stay within three feet of that line to avoid being tagged.
English

This argument is so flawed. In the frames right before this Gunnar starts to go for the tag and saw that Clement was too far out of the baseline to have any chance to tag him AND get the out at first base. The rule exists for a reason.
Codify@CodifyBaseball
he isn't out if you don't try to tag him
