Trump gets hit with 30+ felony counts over a $120k bookkeeping issue… but a $30M “error” from Illhan Omar… nothing? Yeah okay. Totally not a double standard or anything. Nothing to see here.

Actually it really doesn’t, because you made a bold claim saying that there is zero evidence that non citizens are voting as a basis for your claim. Now you’re moving the goalposts to say it’s not on a scale large enough to justify it. But let’s argue that point even though you’re staying away from your main claim. Your argument of “determinative amounts of fraud” may be different than mine or anyone else’s. How much fraud is enough to justify us passing laws? 1 person? 1000? 10,000?

@bricef99 @mercilesspeppr @kkasper33 @WhickTv We are referring to determinative amounts of fraud. We don’t pass sweeping legislation with highly restrictive changes to people’s ability to exercise the right to vote based on statistically insignificant data points. Everything I said in my previous post still holds.

WhickTV - Bane of Christian Nationalists
Look, I hear you. I don't like gerrymandering either. Republicans control the senate, the house, have the presidency, and are 6-3 on SCOTUS. They could ban gerrymandering. They could've stopped this and all other gerrymanders If they wanted to. Ask yourself: "Why don't they?"

And I’m asking for a source on the claims you made earlier about “lawyers reading it and saying married women won’t be able to vote” and “minorities have trouble getting documents because of racism”. Also by that same logic so would being required to get an ID in order to purchase a firearm would also be illegal then. Because as I’m sure you are aware the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. And having to have an ID is considered an infringement, just saying. But we all know that times change and practically everything requires ID now. Why not voting?

@bricef99 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv I’m not sure what source you’re asking for. The requiring additional documents that have a fee attached if you have to order them is a poll tax and is illegal. I don’t see a reason why real ID won’t work or even automatic voter registration.

@GGZ_71 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv Ah yes, all charges I don’t like are “bunk”. And yet you claim I’m the one not living in reality. And like a birth certificate (because people lose those too) you are able to get a certified copy of it.

@bricef99 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv First those charges are bunk and will be tossed like the rest. You would know that if you bothered to live in reality. On married women, requiring extra documents in the problem. Do you know how many people married for over 10 years have their marriage certificate?

I did provide a source previously about voter id and requiring proof of citizenship support in order to vote earlier. But of course you said to discard it because you didn’t like that it proved your narrative wrong. So yes actually, I can hold you to that same standard. My last post was referring to your claims about rampant racism, which was a claim largely peddled by the SPLC which is being federally indicted for funding white supremicist groups like the KKK to commit racist acts so they could report on it and continue receiving donations. All while claiming that they were “fighting racism”. On the topic of married women being allowed to vote, the plan is to require states to establish a process for voters with name discrepancies to submit additional documentation, such as a marriage license or court order, that links their current name to their proof of citizenship. Here is the source for that: factcheck.org/2025/02/will-s… So, are you going to provide any sources related to your last claims or are you going to admit that you just made them up so we can move on?

@bricef99 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv That link has nothing to do with this topic at all. You’ve provided no sources for your claims so your sources so you can’t hold me to a different standard. On this topic how would a married woman register to vote?

And yet you cite zero sources for any of these claims because they’re made up. Cmon mister educated man, you should know better than to make claims without citing your sources! And maybe you should take up the “racism” with the democrats funding the KKK then cbsnews.com/amp/news/south…

@bricef99 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv At least you admit you’re uneducated. That’s the first step. Lawyers looked at the bill and married women would lose the right to vote. Minorities have issues with documents because of racism. Did you know that was still a thing we non whites deal with?

Ah yes the classic ad hominem attacks on my intelligence. Well, let me help you out as well. First of all, this does not reduce women’s right to vote. Even authors of the bill have confirmed that married woman who have changed their last names are not going to somehow lose their right to vote. Second, are you implying somehow that people of color are not capable of obtaining valid forms of identification of citizenship? Sounds a bit racist if you ask me. But what do I know, I’m just an uneducated pawn I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

@bricef99 @lydiabackagain @WhickTv Let me help you since you don’t seem very educated. Republicans benefit from reducing the ability for women and people of color from voting. Republicans want this in the save act. Also illegal votes aren’t a thing that happens enough to care about.

@InnerFr4tB0y @LeadingReport I don’t think we are disagreeing about the legality of it. My entire argument is that there has to be some way to stop district court judges from dictating both policy as well as something as large as fundamental election changes.

@bricef99 @LeadingReport Well thays part of our court system and you gotta climb the ladder. Cant just go to the SC for everything. Being this is a state issue the court is well within thier power and right to do this.

@InnerFr4tB0y @LeadingReport It is more “forgivable” but surely there has to be a better way of getting past the months if stalling to get a final verdict from the Supreme Court, or at the very least this shouldn’t be codified until it is heard by the Supreme Court imo.

@bricef99 @LeadingReport In this case however its a state court telling a state governor whats not constitutional. This in my opinion is more forgivable than a state judge dictating what the president can do foreign policy wise. See the difference?

@seanldunn @TwinkieGlidden @LeadingReport Which drags the process out for months until it gets appealed all the away to the Supreme Court where it is ultimately decided anyways. Why not just skip to that part?

@bricef99 @TwinkieGlidden @LeadingReport I mean, it's possible, albeit unlikely, that the defendants will let the ruling stand. But as it works it's way through the courts, each judge adds their opinion, and the lawyers get to add their arguments, at least until it can no longer be escalated.

As governor, I will defend California’s rights to protect our residents from authoritarian thugs. Let me be clear: If ICE agents and their leaders break the law, we will bring them to justice. It’s time to fight fire with fire.
