@JustSpringY84 Definitely. Quantum had a ton of gas in the tank still
English

@buffaloduke_ Felt rushed, they got the rights back to use him and SF had made a billion and Craig was top of his game so must use Spectre and Blofeld now. Needed a build up over a couple of films, they should have stuck to Quantum as the secret organisation for his era and saved Spectre
English

The first hour and a half here is fantastic. I loved the little nod to Live and Let Die and I thought they did a great job blending real stunt work with blue screen shots for a very raw and impactful helicopter fight sequence.
The evil board meeting that Bond infiltrates looked amazing and felt genuinely ominous. Batista’s metal thumbnail thing is kind of lame but they still used his brawn and presence to bring to life a very threatening ultra-Oddjob type character. The car chase afterward was EXCELLENT and probably the best of the Craig era. The airplane chase also nears the top of the list for best sequences. Say what you will about these movies but they weren’t pulling any punches in this one action-wise. Seydoux is stunning and one of the most interesting Bond girls by a mile but naturally they squander it. Nothing unusual there sadly so I’ll take it for what it’s worth.
I consciously decided to temper my expectations for Walz as Blofeld and somehow I was still immensely let down. The man is a one trick pony if ever one existed. Great writing can make amazing things out of that but we didn’t get that here. Tbh it seems like they were so unsure of what to do with Blofeld that they shoved every lazy/bad idea they had into him and it just fails miserably (literally closed my eyes in anger when he revealed himself to be Bond’s step-brother).
I really can’t wrap my head around it. It’s the exact opposite of his original introduction to the series where we not only didn’t even see his face but he wasn’t even directly involved in the story, leaving the entirety of his plan to be handled by an underling.
I really can’t say enough bad things about this ending lmao but I don’t want to harp. Overall the movie is a success for me because of the outstanding first 90 minutes. That’s enough greatness to be its own movie and I don’t think it should be cast aside for failing to stick the landing.

@buffaloduke_ The french foreign legion cannibal plot from the 2014 leaks would've been a better origin for Blofeld than the foster bro bs. His/White's unit was called Les Spectres de Pierre and had an octopus logo. ESB killed everyone bar White cause he needed him to carry the body they ate.
English

@SciFiWorld_se @SpyHards Not a great chase in Bond terms I admit but I still think it looked good. Not sure what you mean by slow motion
English

@SpyHards @buffaloduke_ I was very very disappointed. And I have to disagree with the above on the car chase; if there ever was a car commercial on valium, that is it. Slow motion awfulness. Large parts of the film just seems numb, it's a massively missed opportunity.
English

@relinquishedrse Hell yeah! I love the franchise and this might be the best one

I love that there are people out there that will happily watch a film depicting the unimaginable horrors of the holocaust but draw the line at a nipple
alice moody@alicemoodyy
finally, a new watchlist.
English

@davidjoshuapro Yeah thats fair honestly. I really liked how it was shot but I agree it wasn’t the most creative chase
English

@buffaloduke_ I agree that the first half is genuinely fun, but I have to disagree about the car chase. Having two prototype supercars is cool, but the lack of traffic/obstacles makes it feel artificial/low stakes.
It felt more like Formula Drift tandems than Bond actually trying to escape.
English

@ktrn761 @JustSpringY84 Great point about 006. That was way better and didn’t feel like a cheap gotcha
English

@buffaloduke_ @JustSpringY84 Especially considering that they already had "brother" villain done well with 006 in goldeneye. In that movie you could feel that there was actual bond between them while here... this might as well be DAF blofeld with just snarky comments between them.
English

@buffaloduke_ Not sure if you've heard this before but there was a scandal involving the Mexican govt giving the production company $20m to open film in Mexico City. They were trying to recover from the bad PR after the cartels rolled human heads thru a resort in Acapulco & ruined tourism!
English

@ktrn761 Agreed. I liked NTTD really well but it would be pretty hard to follow without seeing Spectre and that just doesn’t sit right with me
English

@buffaloduke_ A movie that is unrelated to the grander storyline. A lot of bigger personal stories hit harder in those first 20 movies because every movie was self contained, even the connary films with their spectre storyline.
English

@buffaloduke_ 2 is watchable, 3 is really good and is a favorite of mine.
4 and 5 are in the vault with Batman v Superman, Godzilla 98, Rise of Skywalker, and Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. Out of sight, out of mind, I try to pretend they don’t exist.

@Kournut @bartnikp23 I just wanted more from him I guess. I did like how he was still moving pieces while locked up though, the eye ball camera was badass
English

@buffaloduke_ @bartnikp23 I honestly enjoy this one much more than spectere. I actually like what they do with blofeld here.

@LifeMi1987 I gotta get to those sequels still! I’ve heard great things about that one
English

@DoubleODispatch @bartnikp23 Haha an interesting take! I’ve never seen it so this would be a great excuse 🤔
English

@buffaloduke_ @bartnikp23 Also the film The Rock with Connery and Nicolas Cage. The gentleman in this video makes a perfect argument for why this is an unofficial Bond film.
