@markgranza There's nothing minimalist here. Your argument is nonsensical.

These two pictures are actually good examples of how classicism requires taste so strict and refined that it almost circles back to minimalism. Collecting a bunch of 16th-century-looking objects and piling them up in a room for "vibes" does not make you a classicist. What passes for "classical aesthetics" today is mostly just larping with antiques, which is why minimalism done well beats maximalism done badly.

Most people underestimate how much better life would be without minimalism

All my enemies somehow expose themselves eventually. Jidion made a video basically calling me a "Pedo" over drawings and even Schlep sided with him. Months later Jidion gets arrested for being a public nuisance. While also endangering kids to confront a violent person.

@Scratch_Point_Z God this blows, first the US’s entertainment is being sanitized and being absolute garbage at times. And now Japan is going through the same thing. I wish creatives in general would just put their foot down and say ‘no’

Japanese creators must push back against the sanitization of anime & video games, whether it's due to localization to meet "global standards" or Japanese society "changing with the times," it amounts to nothing more than limiting imagination by treating fiction & reality as one. It is incompatible with creativity itself.

@Scratch_Point_Z "push back" You don't get it, do you. They're not being "censored" by force. Japanese studios are **willingly taking money from neomarxist ESG-oriented western entities**. That means they get told, by their new employers, to make anime that fits "modern western sensibilities".

Why is it every single time I see a zoomer do a playthrough of older games on here, they always tear down the game because it's not hard enough while they excuse modern "absolute cinema" games with almost no gameplay? There is this weird view that we only liked classic games because they had a high degree of difficulty and not because they were fun.

🇯🇵 Japan during the early 2000s. A much simpler time. No smartphones and while we had the internet, we weren't always online. Everyone would spend time at game centers, swimming pools & hanging around outside. It wasn't an easy time in Japan then, but it just felt very real. (vidsrc: trngl)

Convinced that the only people who oppose air conditioning are those who have never experienced the astronomical improvements in quality of life afforded by proper air conditioning. I got top-of-the-line window units in 2023 and it's maybe the best purchase I ever made

If you only read new books, you'll assume the modern mindset is the only way of thinking. But someone who reads old books becomes harder to manipulate by the assumptions of his own age.

@thinkingwest I always think about bits of implicit knowledge that might disappear as cultures age. Example: Prospecting-era book where man visits friend and "hangs his belt on the wall". Modern impulse: "Why'd he take off his belt- ohhh, everyone just naturally wore *gunbelts* in those days."

The vast majority of women would've lived in total poverty at this time and probably owned 2 dresses: one for work and everyday life, which would've been absolutely filthy and patched and made of cheap material, and one slightly nicer one for going to church in.
Elle Lookbook@EvaLovesDesign

Imagine opening your closet centuries ago and being greeted by rows of beautiful gowns in silk, lace, and velvet. Which one would you choose for the day? The elegant day dress, the fashionable visiting gown, or the dazzling ball gown?

@PeterDiamandis The damage to the psyche and to culture is immeasurable. At the height of the chaos and torture in Communist East Germany, half a million people were informants, turning in their own friends and family for a chance a tiny bit more of their own safety from the Party.

@Jawgenius @therealmissjo The most horrifying thing is while the "greedy" socialists, while not tolerable, are at least understandable in a sense. Worse are the true believers of Marx who simply resent and hate the world's "unfairness" so much they desire maximal suffering as punishment for existence.

This is true socialism. In France. École Primaire La Planette is a primary school in Nîmes, a town in southern France. A child recently fainted because of the heat (40 deg). Classes were being taught in corridors to get out of the heat. The parents got together to raise money for five portable air conditioning units. It took them only 3 days to raise the €2,000. They installed the units. Great, you think. Not according to the current municipal team in Nîmes (left-wing coalition led by communist mayor Vincent Bouget). Bouget has told the school to remove the units because “it sets a precedent” and “in some neighbourhoods, parents don’t have the means to act”. Yes, you read that correctly. He is objecting on the grounds that it is unfair to other schools and causes inequality.
