@JTGenter Wow . AA messed up beyond messing up . 5K miles . That just makes things even more sad . Please don't let this get swept into the back room. Must be delt with at the highest levels . I am truely at a loss of words at how bad this is on AA 's part from all departments .

I asked an AAgent at the lounge in JFK about any options to upgrade. His response: it would be "unfair to the standbys" to give me an option to *pay* to upgrade.
By standbys, I clarified that he meant non-revenue passengers (e.g. airline employees) and he begrudgingly confirmed

We booked an @AmericanAir premium economy award from YYZ-JFK-LHR-CFU, planning to rebook an itinerary in biz when something opened up. Nothing ever did.
Now, there are 4 biz seats available with just 2 on the waitlist but we still can't pay (miles or cash) to upgrade 😑
