I was pleased to welcome Namibia’s new High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Veiccoh Nghiwete. I thanked him for Namibia’s successful hosting of #CTMM and #CBS2025 in Windhoek last year. We had a productive discussion on their national priorities including agriculture, fisheries and youth employment.

As one of the first countries to ratify the BBNJ Agreement, Mauritius is moving from commitment to action. 🌊 In partnership with the Government of Mauritius and @FCDOGovUK, we supported a three-day, cross-government workshop to develop a strategic framework for implementation. 🔗 Read more: bit.ly/3PJ2Lbq

This month, we hosted the Commonwealth Annual Consultation of National Women’s Machineries on the sidelines of #CSW70 in New York. Discussions focused on measures to support women's economic empowerment, environmental resilience, climate justice and women-owned businesses. Outcomes will shape priorities for the upcoming Commonwealth Women’s Forum to be held at #CHOGM2026.

Today I was pleased to welcome Tanmaya Lal as our new Deputy Secretary-General (Programmes). I look forward to working closely with him to advance @CommonwealthSec’s Strategic Plan and strengthen delivery across our programme areas for the benefit of all Commonwealth countries.

Ahead of @WTO's 14th Ministerial Conference later this month, we hosted a hybrid preparatory workshop in Geneva for officials from Commonwealth small states and least developed countries. The sessions provided technical updates and strategic guidance to help delegates prepare their ministers, engage effectively at #MC14 and ensure the priorities of small and vulnerable economies are advanced at the Conference.

Jamaica joined the Commonwealth on March 9 in observing Commonwealth Day at the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey in London. 📍London | On the margins of #CFAMM, 🇨🇾 Special Envoy on Multilateralism Amb. @AKakourisCY met @SGCommonwealth Shirley Botchwey, with a focus on #reformagenda & #multilateralcooperation. Earlier, at the #CommonwealthDay Reception, he briefly exchanged with HM King Charles III.

It was a pleasure to meet Cyprus’ Special Envoy for Multilateralism, H.E. Andreas Kakouris. We discussed the importance of multilateral cooperation and Commonwealth countries working together to address shared global challenges. I also thanked him for Cyprus’ continued contributions to the Commonwealth, particularly its expertise and leadership on ocean-related issues. @CyprusInUK @CyprusMFA

I was honoured to receive @mfespinosaEC, President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, at Marlborough House where we discussed ways to strengthen multilateralism and the @UN, including through a strong Commonwealth. Her work for a gender equal multilateralism, for youth and sustainability is an inspiration.
