@WilliePStyle @kolumvia09 @Valascaziel1 Did he not push back on leaving on his own? It took too long IMO but wasn’t that because of him? Did the tell him over the weekend he was staying? He is a great guy but he wasn’t always a great guy to the media either. I think it was all too much.

@kolumvia09 @Valascaziel1 I’m not debating the merits of whether he should be the head coach or not. I’m saying the way this was handled is poor, and is not befitting of someone who’s a gentleman of the program that is allegedly aligned with a sense of class.

Leaving him hanging for five days under a shroud of uncertainty, reports of asking him to resign, bowing to public pressure, and ultimately firing him, not giving him a statement in the school release... Yeah, they did Hubert dirty.

@WilliePStyle @dayman23 So it took an elite recruit to make them good and they still weren’t great. They didn’t string him along anyway.

@dayman23 It's not just that they let him go, it's that he lost his best player midway through the season which changed the complexion of the season, a guy who according to 24/7 was the fifth best recruit in the online recruiting eval era. And they strung him along, and all the rest.

@CuffsTheLegend It was a dumb hire. Most fans knew it as well. Still, they can make it all right now. Though tbh, they ended K twice so that one little run was pretty fun. Not worth it though when they could have probably had May or someone like that for the next 20 years.

the funniest part about this whole UNC Basketball coaching situation.. is how everybody BUT the UNC family knew they should’ve hired a better basketball coach from OUTSIDE of the Carolina family but they still hired Hubert Davis anyway all because Roy Williams said so That good ole boy country club shit is the exact reason why the UNC basketball program is in shambles in the first place lol

@SethDavisHoops The only people who feel this way are family (who are too close to the situation to be objective) and rival fans, who obviously want us to keep Hubert.

Larry Brown, who played for Dean Smith at North Carolina and served as Smith's assistant for two years, is publicly calling for the school to retain Hubert Davis as coach. Here is Brown's official statement: "I understand why North Carolina fans were disappointed with our loss to VCU, but people should remember that when Caleb Wilson was healthy, this team beat Ohio State, Kansas, Duke and Virginia and Kentucky on the road. If Caleb did not get injured, this team might be in the Sweet Sixteen. I believe Hubert Davis is the type of person and coach who should continue to lead our program. We have a great recruiting class on the way, and many of the current players want to stay to play for Hubert. I call on the North Carolina administration to do the right thing and allow Hubert to continue serving as coach."

I'm an OG who's been a @UNC fan since Charlie Scott stepped foot in Chapel Hill. These so-called fans are NOT interested in the Administration doing the right thing, but the White thing with regard to their present MBB coach. I only wish they had the courage to state it so.

@UNC_TarHeelFan Right, no one hates him. It's not really his fault. Maybe his attitude kind of was but that's still a byproduct of being put in that position. It's more on Roy tbh, as much as that sucks.

My only ask (if I can even ask) is that we, collectively as Tar Heels, remain civil about this whole thing. Hubert Davis is still Carolina, he loves Carolina, and Carolina loves him. Him being the coach was just not the thing that we needed.

Sounds increasingly like a decision on Hubert Davis’ future as UNC head coach will NOT be coming today. But as meetings continue, tenor of the situation hasn’t changed. All signs still point to Davis having coached his last game with the Tar Heels.

We have to keep Hubert Davis. He doesn’t deserve to go out like this. If you take the top player in the country off of ANY team with ANY coach, the team will struggle a bit. PLUS, do you really want Marcus Paige to not have a job??!! These guys all deserve another run.
