@LundukeJournal There's already a civil petition signed by thousands to bring senate discussion to repeal this law, due to freedom (and other) concerns, though as usual it's unlikely this matter will receive the attention it deserves let alone be repealed.

Brazil's Age Verification Law is in Effect! Only a few hours in, & already a wild ride. - Brazil monitoring 37 companies for compliance, including Canonical (Ubuntu), Valve, & more. - Rockstar Games & Arch Linux 32 restrict access in Brazil. - System76 bans users for asking about age verification.

@AyakaMods What's worse is that when a leak inevitably happens and people's most private info gets exposed, all the government will do is shift the blame to the company while pretending that's their issue. They won't down from this.

Pay attention to this America, Democrats want Socialism which leads to Communism Shark Tank businessman Robert Herjavec explains how his family was forced to flee communism in the middle of the night “In a communist country, what happens is if you make more money than the guy next to you, guess what the factory does? It takes your money away. Everybody makes the same amount of money. So my dad would go to bars and say bad things about communism and they threw him in jail. So my dad was in jail 22 times and the last time he went to jail 22 times — and the last time he got put in jail, they said if you come back, you will never come back. — So literally my dad in the middle of the night escaped from jail — he grabbed my mom and I, we had one suitcase and we crossed the border to Italy. Had enough money to get a ticket on a boat, called the Christophero Colombo, and ended up here”

@Pirat_Nation This helps more in regards to limiting advertising/recommendation power for such games than actually limiting access to them. That's the real win. Lower age rated games get way more eyes on them (these companies value that), attracting a bigger audience.

Every attempt to institute digital ID has resulted in massive leaks which made young people significantly less safe and exposed their private info. The goal isn’t safety, it’s censorship – for example, in Utah, where Mike “Mass Immigration” Lee wants digital ID laws which would strip anonymity from his detractors. The problems and panic making digital ID seem like a reasonable solution literally all result from trans people grooming children. We’re going to end up stripping the internet of the last thing keeping it free, all because society refuses to do something about the grooming cult operating in plain sight.

@BananaFan10 @Pirat_Nation You are nearsighted and make no sense. This has never happened. This is not about protecting kids and it protects no one. Anyone with the minimal understanding of how tech works can tell that, but it's clear you lack such understanding. These are convoluted and flawed law.

New York’s proposed S08102 would force every internet-connected device to run mandatory, device-level age verification using biometrics or government IDs. This isn’t just about kids online—it builds a permanent, trackable identity layer across the entire internet.

App stores should be held to the same standards as their brick-and-mortar counterparts. Age verification measures for app purchases are common sense solutions to give parents oversight of their kids' online experience. The App Store Accountability Act does just that, helping put parents in charge and protecting kids' privacy online.
