My primary reason for not liking it is because it's AI and it's proving that Nvidia is out of touch with what the gaming community wants. So no, it wouldn't matter at all to me. I think AI is a corrosive force in tech and is destroying everything that enthusiasts love about tech. The end game is going to be cloud computing where you don't even own a computer but instead rent a terminal that you have no control over.

Do you notice how violent and hateful the language is coming from the AI Bros? It's a little disturbing. And no, you're in the hyper minority. Most people think it looks like crap and it's out of touch for Nvidia to offer an AI feature to gamers who can't afford gaming systems because of AI. So yes, I'm a bitch because it cost $1,000 for a dual channel memory kit.

@cybercpu @Pirat_Nation I’ve asked the question if the DLSS 5 photos, the same exact photo, was made by a person and not AI, would you like it? And they’ve answered yes.

What's even worse is that it's only good for 7 days. If you want to sideload something later you have to wait another 24 hours. This is wildly anti-consumer. They're labeling it as a way to protect people from scammers but the reality of it is, they're trying to protect their own business model. It's hard to collect 30% fees on third party app stores.

@cybercpu @Google I'm assuming the wait 24 hours thing is to intentionally thwart scammers, but still that's stupid, wonder if there will be a bypass for people who know how to use adb.

DLSS 5 got trolled pretty hard but do you notice that out of nowhere almost every post on Twitter now is people defending it. That's not organic. That's a paid campaign.

Yep, that's about it. As a content creator I don't know why anyone would want their content being used to train AI. I work hard on my content and would rather not have AI slop copying it.

Microsoft needs to learn from Valve. They just do one thing. Just provide as many people with games as they possibly can and try to get them the best deals they can. Gabe is considered the Reverend saint of gaming. Microsoft needs to provide people with an operating system. That's it. Period. If they stop going AI first and go users first They would still have over 90% market share. Everyone would love them. Then they can just say, hey we have this thing you can talk to and it answers your questions, check it out. Give it a clipy theme and they would win. They think they can force success and it won't colossally backfire in their face.

You know, this is one of the primary problems with AI companies. They are so convinced that they're right about everything that any criticism at all is just ignored. They're just so out of touch that they have no idea that there's an entire movement that is sick of it.

@mericcolo @krzyzanowskim That's objectively false. Apple's software works just well enough to make the platform itself look clunky so they can market that their platform is more refined. The purpose for their tactic is to get people to say exactly what you just said.

I understand the second two points, they make sense in a lot of ways. The second point with limited user accounts helps to reduce spam. That's really common on many platforms. I've heard of many private live stream platforms that use the same tactic. They will allow everyone to create a free account but only the premium accounts are allowed to respond. This is to reduce spam on free accounts. The Geo locking is all based on the seller. Valve themselves don't set pricing for games. They simply provide the platform that game publishers use to sell games. They're the ones that set regional pricing. In regards to Valves return policy. I'm not sure where you got the screenshot but that point is just delusional. Valve has one of the best return policies in the industry. It's a 14-day no questions asked complete refund. It way exceeds anything the UK ever asked for. It allows you 14 days and 2 hours of gameplay to decide whether or not you want to keep the game. If you decide you want a refund then they give it to you with no questions asked. I've used it several times and it is as easy as it sounds. You literally just push a button in the UI that says you want to refund and they just give it to you.

All I'm saying is that the only one that gets criticized for their yacht is the one that people perceive negatively. For instance in this case the CEO of Microsoft actually doesn't own a yacht. Gabe on the other hand owns a Leviathan super yacht that's worth about half a billion dollars. Another factor is that Gabe is worth about 11 billion while Satya Nadella with Microsoft is worth about 1.4 billion. But his wealth is seen as "evil" due to the perception people have in Microsoft even though Gabe is worth 10x as much. My point was that all the criticisms against Microsoft could be made against Valve as well but the reason why they're not is because Valve does the one thing that Microsoft doesn't do. It protects the perception that Valve is in it for the customers first. Let me give you an example. If someone came out with a consumer purchasable copy of Windows 7. A piece of IP that Microsoft has completely abandoned. It would immediately lead to lawsuits. Microsoft would absolutely stop it from being widely adopted. It's also completely within their right to do so. They own the IP. However, a small group of indie developers called the crowbar collective decided they wanted to port Half-Life 1 into the Half-Life 2 engine. It was a cool fan project to make Half-Life 1 take advantage of the advancements in The latest source engine. Now, Valve was totally within their right to put a stop to it. It was a blatant violation of IP. But instead they thought it was so cool that this free project done by fans even existed did they ask them if they wanted to sell it on Steam. They literally handed over the IP of their most valuable game. But here's what they really did. They created a tremendous amount of goodwill in the community. It's probably up there in the top 10 of coolest gaming related stories ever. They also make 30% on every sale and don't have to provide any support. So in reality the biggest reason we love Valve and we hate Microsoft is just the way Valve treats their customers compared to the way Microsoft does.

It sounds to me like you just don't like businesses that make money. Because there's nothing really wrong with anything you just listed there. Other than the fact that some of it is just wrong. Like provides no innovation in 10 years. That's simply not true. They have pretty much single-handedly made Linux gaming a thing. In the last decade it's gone from not a chance in hell to 95% of games working and this is all because of Valve. They can spend as much money as they want on super yachts. I don't criticize people for how they spend their money. I buy stupid stuff too. I like watches. I have way too many of them. Their team seems to be doing fine. Also, Valve doesn't really make many games. They sell games that are made by other people. My idea of the "right thing" is that they're winning on literally every front.

Makes no games, provides no innovation in 10 years, spends an insane ammount of money on super yachts, and sucks up a huge % of the teams $$$ who make your games, while doing next to nothing for hte past 10 years. If that's your idea of the "right thing" I think you're kinda crazy. But you're certainly not alone in that craziness. Amazing what a few reddit memes did for Valve. It's an amazing service, but the grace they are given still despite the state of things is so strange to me.

@iBolski You know, you might be right. But why remove it in the first place? They could quietly let the drama die down in the background by just not adding anything new. They don't have to remove stuff. I think that's a good sign that we're winning.
