@HSRdirector My dad's other rules about ladders was, if you are under 65, work only high enough that you'll end up in Orthopedics, not so high that you'll end up in Neurology.

I’ve witnessed a lot of harm done to my patients from various expected things like cigarettes, guns etc but I never imagined how much harm I would see in my adult patients from ladders. LADDERS. so much devastation

@WREVAGroup And they spend at least 10 minutes to do that weekly fill up (more if Costco, or other busy, out-of-the-way, lower-priced stations), whereas it only takes seconds to plug in at home.
This more than makes up for the occasional charge time needed for a longer day trip.

In 10 years, we'll realize young adults can't read, write, or think as well as they should. We'll wonder how we allowed students to offload huge chunks of their learning to AI. Today we're just watching it happen. This is the most obvious unforced error of our time.

Mars is 225 million km from the Sun. 225 million miles times 1.6 is about 360 million kms, so for us to be that far from Mars we'd have to be pretty much the direct opposite side of orbit, with the Sun blocking Mars' view of us.
