@WhiteKoalaArt wait.. what?! here all this time i believed it was your legally given name, and believing your talent to be truly unique among koala-kind. but, as just another human? i must now reassess.
lol/jk 🤣

@dude163 each of your various processes has something interesting to it, though I have to admit a personal bias toward the "topographic contours"-ish (forgive please: i don't know what you call it) process, e.g. the black-on-cyan "LUNA" is striking 😊
English

scruffy lines (bespoke javascript), scruffy pen (manipulated pilot g2), scruffy paper (distressed 300gsm coldpress) => scruffy critter (currently aka "fizzle") #plotterart

@benstraussphoto enjoyed the "behind-the-scenes" conversational style!
mylar for the win? 😉

@dude163 @revdancatt @paulgb Perhaps not the best wording (sounds a bit sus on re-read) but there's no ulterior motive, you could probably just monitor #ptpx if you didn't want to follow, cheers!
English

@dude163 @revdancatt Follow Paul Butler @paulgb (and hope that he maintains the stamina to keep organizing it! :D). I don't know if there's a rigorous "schedule" per se, but look for an announcement toward end of year.

Just received: 3 beautiful/graceful calligraphic-esque "squiggles" (forgive) from Dan Catt (@revdancatt). 🥰 Next challenge (looking forward to it): how to display properly display this wonderful triptych #ptpx #plottertwitter

English

Just received: "Tracing the Line" by Hubertus Mueller. struggling here to find a low-angle to would capture the shimmer/sheen of the silver metallic ink against the cardstock, wasn't entirely successful (it's very subtle viewed straight-on flat-lit). 🥰🙏 #ptpx #plottertwitter

After many trials and tribulations, I believe I have found the working paper/pen combination!!
Jake Fried may never even order his plot, but his Pendulum #25 has been the ultimate stress test for this process, as it has extremely dense lines and multiple overlapping pen passes. This has wreaked havoc on so many other pens and papers. Until now…
The first video and image here are the final result, and the other two are examples of the failed attempts using different pens and papers. I probably plotted this pendulum 20 times trying to get this right.

@benstraussphoto viewing: in theory, you could route a channel into a body for ink-level viewing (then replace body on each new pen). EXCEPT.. nice idea, but won't work - the wicking holds enough ink that you can't "read" the true level as it depletes. :(
English

@benstraussphoto other: eye-dropper extra (compatible) ink into top of the ink tube, giving longer run to a new pen. or fully rinse a tube's wicking then only use the "other ink" in it, replacing the ink tube on each new pen.
English

@benstraussphoto ...pliers help with the pulling, careful with the nib - it's longer than you might expect, syringe trick requires an exact fit (else huge mess), can use polyfill from craft store if want to mimic the ink tube's webbing (ink then resists free-flow, can reduce mess) hth
English

@benstraussphoto rec: disassemble a micron pen (or staedtler, stabilo, etc "fine-liners" - same basic tech): remove cap, remove nib, tap out ink tube. once you get how they work, various "hacks" might suggest themselves, e.g. mount nib on a syringe (then fill w koh-i-noor/rotring/etc ink)
