@GamewithDave Just completing the main quest line in many games can be well over 30 hours nowadays. Playing on easy lets me enjoy all the artistic elements while still being engaged without having to commit a hundred hours to what should be a relaxing pastime.

This is a very important moment for our small company.
Our second game, Of Lies and Rain, is now out of early access and ready for the public.

A Little Backstory: Castello Inc was founded in March 2021. None of us came from the video game industry. I was creating 3D renderings for advertising and architecture, our coder worked at an industrial refrigeration company while programming PLCs, our sound designer was part of a folk band, and our 3D modeler and narrative designer were both employed in a warehouse.
Given this background, you can understand why we struggled to find a publisher or investor who believed in our team when we pitched ou second game "Of Lies and Rain". We were told things like: "Too big for your studio, try something smaller" "It ticks all our risk categories" "You need more people and a huge budget" "You don’t have any experience in story-driven games" and "You’ll need to hire someone to write the story"
Two and a half years later, here we are. Of Lies and Rain is a reality.
It came at a cost though... We’ve been working without compensation for the past two years. For the game to be successful, it needs to cover our two years of development costs and generate enough revenue to give us time to create another game, a very difficult task. If it doesn't the company will not survive. During the entire early access period, the game sold just over 3,000 copies, not nearly enough to cover even a few months of development. The publishers and investors might have been right after all.
But none of that matters now. During the brief seven week early access period, we rolled out one update per week. We addressed every major issue with the game, fixed bugs, and added features requested by our community of players.
Of Lies and Rain is now in great shape, still at a 90% positive score on Steam and a 4.5 rating on Meta, with the PSVR2 version out now.
Being game developers for the past five years has been the time of our lives. We’re five friends working together every day on something we love, and it’s been incredible. We’re proud of the game we’ve created against all odds, we couldn’t have made a better game than this.
If this journey ends here, these memories will stay with us forever and will be amazing to remember "that time when we made games" as we grow older.
We want to thank everyone who helped us during development: our playtesters who spent countless hours testing the game, the content creators who helped spread the word, and everyone who purchased the early access version. Truly, thank you to everyone who played our game!
Of Lies and Rain is out now. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we loved making it!

@WilliamPPenha @GAMERTAGVR Seeing these sorts of numbers from a lot of vr games lately. Just look at the number of reviews titles are getting & you can see things aren’t good. It’s currently doubtful our next title will be a VR game. As much as we love the medium it just doesn’t seem viable economically.

@GAMERTAGVR Overall sales of Of Lies and Rain were poor, not just on PSVR2. They said they sold 3000 including Quest and PC. 4k total. A shame. But we have a question, would a price of 20 dollars be more viable? Maybe it would sell much more.

I had an amazing trip to Barcelona, but unfortunately someone stole my laptop bag, which had several wearables, my laptop, and the last YouTube video I recorded 🥺. The physical items don’t bother me as much since insurance will likely cover them, but losing the hard drive with all the content for my next video honestly makes me really sad.
The video took 3 weeks to make, and I only had a few small tweaks left before releasing it this week.

As for what I’m into it’s a mixed bag, though I’ve definitely sunk quite a few hours into Elite Dangerous over the years.

Unpopular opinion n.2: I think that much of the disappointment towards the #SteamFrame comes from the fact that it was hyped too much before. Yesterday at 9-10am PT everyone was waiting for the BIG announcement, like if it was going to change everything. And when something is hyped too much, then it naturally comes the disappointment, when reality hits hard (it's like a mini version of the Gartner Hype Cycle).
Steam Frame is a good device for the purpose it has been designed for, that is, making people play PC and PCVR Steam games. And it introduces some cool technology, like the very-low-latency PC streaming. But it's not a headset that will completely revolutionize XR and I doubt that will sell 20M units like Quest 2.
It is not Valve's fault, because the company never released any official statement about it. It is more our community's fault. I think we need to be more objective when waiting for a new headset, and not imagine too many good things about it. And content creators should tone down their content, too, so as not to create too big expectations.
Every time a headset was hyped, this never led to anything good: think about Apple Vision Pro and the subsequent "Not even Apple saved VR, VR is dead" articles.
