@DeplorableGreg1 @burgessev Ok. So you agree that we don’t know if Donald Trump raped many children, but it would certainly be bad if he had, and it’s fair to just ask questions. Not saying he’s a baby rapist of course! Just I hope he isn’t and he’s welcome to clear the air.

David...you are not listening...if he is legitimately entitled to it he should receive it. I don't know, nor care upon what basis disability is paid out to veterans. I do know that to get disability for my mentally ill daughter it took 3 years, 3 denials and a hearing before a judge. I hope VA disability is as taxing and indepth.

Warnock on Platner: “I have not endorsed in that race" “He has raised a number of issues that speak to where people are living and the struggles that they’re having … and that has struck a nerve with the people of Maine,” Warnock added. “But he’s also had these other issues that have emerged, and that too has struck a nerve.”

@DeplorableGreg1 @burgessev You said this: “If his claim is from some drunken outburst...then I have second thoughts” Will you concede that disability is not paid out to veterans in the basis of drunken outbursts?

@davidclain @burgessev Sir...I restate my position, if he is entitled to it...then pay it. But like Pig Pen in the Peanut's cartoon. He was surrounded by dirt. It seems to me Mr. Platner is surrounded with dirt...just saying.

@DeplorableGreg1 @burgessev in your experience as a veteran, are disability benefits usually given to people based on drunken outbursts or based on assessments by physicians?

If the claim is legitimate...then he is untitled to 100% of what he gets. Yet as we look across the landscape we see billions of fraud. If his claim is from some drunken outburst...then I have second thoughts. I guess we will never know. Oh...I supported the troops by volunteering to serve for 9 years.

@DeplorableGreg1 @burgessev i think we have an obligation to the kids who were injured in our misbegotten wars but i'm from the party that supports the troops, not the one whose leader thinks the people who got injured are losers deplorable indeed!

@DeplorableGreg1 @burgessev Can you say more about when you think veterans should be expected to renounce benefits they are entitled to for their injuries while serving?

@burgessev No one is talking about the fact that Platner is on 100% disability from the Veterans Administration. If he is elected and has a full time job as a Senator...will he renounce his 100% disability??? We all know the answer...

@philipmathews51 @RonBrownstein as of today at least i agree with you, but you're drawing the wrong conclusion on biden. the lesson there is wounded candidate stayed in too long, and replacing him (albeit too late) was the only thing that gave dems a chance

@RonBrownstein The idea that someone who is simply "on the left" will be able to defeat Collins is a wild guess. Platner has tapped into an emotional need of the Maine electorate in a way that is unique. Let's not rush into Biden II thinking we can for a second election run a replacement.

Dems can't force out Platner if he wins today, as is near certain. But if he steps aside by 7/13 they can replace him. And in today's governor primary there are 3 alternatives w/broad support on the left: Jackson, Pingree, Bellows. At least 2 soon will be available to replace him
Ronald Brownstein@RonBrownstein

W/reason, Dem fears are growing that @grahamformaine will squander their chance to beat @SenatorCollins, the last R Sen in the 19 states that have voted vs. Trump 3x. But Dems will have new options popular w/ME progressives after today's primary. My take bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

@robschaper @edandersen > can you imagine a company that says you use our product too much sorry? yeah, i mean almost every company in every industry says your consumption is limited for a given price? outside of self-hosted software i can hardly think of an exception

Maybe eventually they will focus on rate limiting openclaw, their flagship Codex App should have unlimited linear messages for humans anyway, can you imagine a company that says you use our product too much sorry? They need to figure this out. So the question is why have they not? Answer, they cannot effectively tell the difference between human and agents, or we likely would see a solution already to allow us humans at least some access to their product. There is always ChatGPT.

@ejrodden @jeremymbarr @BoSnerdley the people who are making it about them are bari weiss and nick bilton, who i agree are not journalists people who push back against corporate agendas that get in the way of honest fact-finding and holding of power to account, those are journalists

NEW: Bari Weiss just addressed the termination of Scott Pelley on the network's morning call just now. Weiss: "I know I speak for myself, and I hope I speak for everyone here when I say that I'm only interested in working in a newsroom that is built on trust and mutual respect. We cannot do our work without it. That foundation was broken on Monday, and despite our attempts to engage with Scott Pelley and to find a way back, unfortunately we weren't able to do so, and so we had to part ways. We did not want that to happen, but that's the path that he chose. That unfortunate outcome does not discount from the amazing contributions and work that Scott Pelley has done for CBS and for 60 Minutes over the course of his career." She then listed some of his stories from the past season and called them "unforgettable stories."

@saikatc Ballot harvesting? That's illegal in California. Oh wait — Democrats in the State legislature fixed that. Scott Wiener wrote the bill to legalize it. So now third parties can collect as many ballots as they want. NVM, carry on I guess

@RachelWeissman9 @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy that is absolutely a political view, called (as you said earlier) libertarianism it’s weird that you don’t understand that you’re arguing for a political view just as i am when you advocate for libertarianism you absolutely are trying to advance your particular political theory

@davidclain @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy I'm arguing society should leave people alone, yes, because that ensures the least amount of artificial suffering, the least amount of discrimination, etc. I'm not pushing my views on anyone else with this. In fact my view allows you to form your rawlsian community.

@davidclain @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy But Rawls' entire argument is built around the very idea that society should be setup the way he thinks it should, DOESN'T IT? Which would inevitably include forcing it on people with different values.

@davidclain @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy Sure, and being born into random circumstances is NORMAL, it's OKAY, it's what everyone goes through and it doesn't need "fixing" by self-appointed moral busybodies. Rawls was nowhere near smart enough to fix the world, in fact he was too rétarded to grasp how incompetent he was.

@RachelWeissman9 @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy i agree joe has no control over his parents' wealth but jack has no control over the fact that he was born to drug-addicted parents who you're born to is random so what's just about people randomly lucking into great or awful lives?

@davidclain @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy Thank you for joining the conversation. Taking away Joe's money against Joe's will to help Jack is a bigger injustice than letting Jack handle his own situation himself. It's discrimination based on something Joe has no control over.

David Clain@davidclain

@RachelWeissman9 @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy here, i'll be very clear: i don't think that a good and fair society is one in which jack suffers because his parents were drug addicts and joe has lots of unearned advantages because of his parents' wealth i think you should defend why you think that's good and fair.

@davidclain @MemoryMedieval @romanhelmetguy My idea of a fair society is one where people are allowed to keep whatever they have without busybodies arguing that anything should be taken away from anyone to "fix" circumstances outside people's control.
