We know many in the disability community use Twitter to connect and organize. We respect those who choose to stay. However, DCL can’t stay on a platform that promotes and profits from the deaths and suffering of our community.

E*** M*** is willing to let disabled folks die to drive profits to billionaires. So what do we do about it? Despite all we’ve built here – we believe it’s time to build disability community in new places.

I cannot stop thinking about every disabled person who can’t evacuate these SoCal fires, whether it’s because they physically can’t leave or they don’t have the resources to. When we say our systems are designed to leave disabled folks behind to die, this is a prime example.

We all have a right to clean air and masks. Disabled folks have a right to protect ourselves as the government has refused to fund air filtration standards. Don’t sacrifice our lives for your surveillance state.

Hearing reports from Columbia, SC that folks are being denied paratransit rides to the polls because they didn’t book 7 days in advance. Imagine relying on that for groceries, doctors, your vote, your kid’s big recital. Disabled folks deserve reliable, accessible, FREE transit.
