In 1939, you would be hoping for a quick/decisive loss in the war in order for the current regime to be humbled and lose the next election, no matter whom you’re fighting.

President Trump is doing absolutely the right thing to get TSA agents paid.
Senate Democrats are completely unable to come to an agreement to help the American people.
President Trump is showing leadership at a time the Democrats are continuing to fight against the hardworking, freedom loving people of our country. Democrats are continuing to stand on the side of illegal immigrant criminals as opposed to American citizens.

I believe it’s fact that the pastor isn’t speaking in a way consistent with how Christians talk about the souls of strangers.

This is either incredibly dishonest or wildly ignorant.
Obviously, non-Christians are not going to know all the biblical jargon Christians use. But journalists (or should I say “journalists”?) who report on Christians have at least some obligation to understand what Christians are actually saying. It’s really not hard to grasp what Pastor Potteiger is talking about here. The suggestion that he is advocating violence is insane. He’s actually hoping Talarico would be converted to genuine faith in Christ. He wants to see Talarico saved.
Every Christian has been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). Every Christian is called to die to himself, to take up his cross, to deny himself, to put his flesh (fallenness) to death.
One of Satan’s tactics is false accusation. Early Christians were accused of cannibalism and atheism. Some things never change. Satanic slander of good men is one of them.

But certainly we can all agree that it’s a war that lacks any strategic clarity or understanding on the part of the President making the strategic decisions. In that context, I don’t see how any rational person could say, “Yes, let’s continue to escalate with him in that chair continuing to make life/death decisions with these stakes in the balance.” That’s where I’m at. It makes sense to neutralize Iran, but it’s totally unreasonable to entrust Trump to make those decisions and certainly unreasonable to do so without Congressional oversight and approval.
