Paula you are summarizing the history of the world. People just move around. My dad’s Polish ancestors came to America dirt poor because Napoleon and Russia made Eastern Europe their battle highway. On my mom’s side …. Scotts Irish… my aunt always told me they were driven out of England by Cromwell. People move around - especially for working jobs.

I just left Costco in East Plano - I saw 9 women with their faces covered, and I’d say roughly 30% of the shoppers were Muslim. It’s interesting how fast North Dallas suburbs are changing. I don’t understand how anyone is still trusting Texas Republicans.

A new Star Trek series, but it’s made by people who have actually watched and enjoyed the previous Star Trek series

I would not let anyone who looks like this within 1000 feet of a school much less in the same room as a child.

@dallasschools⁩ is voting on UNIVERSAL FULL DAY FREE PRE-K for all 3 and 4 yr olds this week! This is an absolute game changer. Parents will save on childcare. Kids will be better prepared for success in kindergarten and beyond and more parents will join the workforce❣️

What do you expect? You are at a Costco in Plano. It sounds like someone going to an Italian restaurant and getting upset they don’t sell eggrolls. All Texas does is change. When i was a kid here in the 1980’s all people talked about was how much this place has changed. Know a place that hasn’t changed in sixty years? Communist Cuba.

I’ve got an idea. A new Star Trek show set shortly after the TNG /DS9 era with a new crew, New ship and exploring a new quadrant of space. Written and ran by creators who are familiar with, understand and respect the lore of the show that came before.

Celebrating the 104th birthday of Marty Allen Let's remember the time when Marty, Adrienne Barbeau, The Easter Bunny. Peter Falk and Charo danced seductively for your pleasure so that you can donate to Easter Seals. Yes, The Easter Bunny 😂

I suppose. Do you know of a neighborhood seeking to do that? Carl, I think a better parallel would be wondering if an Irish neighborhood in a US city considered painting green shamrocks or a pot of gold image on a crosswalk. (Dallas just had its annual St Patrick’s parade last week, so that comes to mind.) We celebrate cultural stuff in our country all the time. And that’s a good thing!

NEW: Man arrested after he tried repainting a gay crosswalk in Dallas after the city scraped off the rainbow paint following an order from Governor Greg Abbott. 25-year-old Joseph Whiteside was arrested, according to Dallas Voice. People in the Oak Lawn neighborhood are fuming after they spent $100,000 to make the neighborhood more gay, only to have some of it scrapped off.

HAPPENING NOW: The city of Dallas, Texas, has begun removing all gay pride rainbow crosswalks from the city. The move comes after Texas Governor Greg Abbott made the order back in October. About time.

With respect to Catholics, being gay is not a religion. I know many gay Catholics. I know you understand the difference. Oak Lawn has been a gay neighborhood for decades so they have public art - pride flags on the sidewalk. Here’s a message to all you liberals - everything in life isn’t a slight. Everything is not about your feelings and being a perpetual victim. America is a magnificent county because we guarantee liberty and rights, which means people enjoy pride and dignity. People in communist countries have their pride and dignity taken from them by the government because they have no freedom.

@steveharol74671 @HistoryBoomer I’ve always made it a point to visit my local area museums - also when I’m in other cities I’ll read up on theirs and visit. For example, Oklahoma City. (They have a good one, btw.)

Some people prefer living in the city near museums, theaters, and a zillion restaurants. “But they could have 4000 ft2 in the suburbs!” Some people prefer living in the city near museums, theaters, and a zillion restaurants. “But they could have 4000 ft2 in the suburbs!” ♾️

The local neighborhood association raised $100,000 and paid for the rainbow crossing. It’s Dallas’ gay neighborhood. And people care about the neighborhood. That’s what Jane Jacobs wrote about what makes a vibrant city. Isn’t that better than places where no one gives a damn and it looks like garbage?

Michael Fiore - Garden Center
Texas actually did something like this, but better. Starting in the 1960s, thanks to Lady Bird Johnson and the Highway Beautification Act, Texas began planting native wildflowers along highways. Today, TxDOT manages about 800,000 acres of roadside and intentionally delays mowing until early summer after wildflowers have bloomed and dropped seed. Mowing late in the season allows the wildflowers to stay vigorous and not get crowded out by taller grasses or trees and shrubs. Take a drive along Texas highways in the Spring and you will enjoy a beautiful display of Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Coreopsis, Winecup, Mexican Hat, Indian Blanket, and more! Then thank Ladybird Johnson and TxDOT’s commitment to keeping Texas Highways beautiful.

Every single mile of highway and interstate median should be planted with native wildflowers to feed pollinators and birds. No more mowing grass.
