being sick in a foreign country is an incredibly disorienting experience -everything sounds different, birds, trains, ect -you don’t know what the pharmacies are called, and if you do they might not have the same things on the shelves -you’re not in your normal routines so you’re stuck wherever you’re visiting outside of time and place
