I've been quite lenient on Florian Wirtz this season as I am certain he will live up to his price tag in the near future. But so many of these games I am left thinking: what does he do? So ineffective and when you cost £100m, you want way, way more.

People think Liverpool's issue are predominantly coaching related but the simple fact is that Salah carried them last season by putting up arguably a top 3 individual season in PL history.
Their best 11 is unbalanced at the best of times and their recruitment has been woeful

If United pays £120m for one player, every other club (like Everton with Ndiaye or Leipzig with Diomande) will automatically add a £20m "United Tax" to their players. By pivoting to Angelo Stiller, Adam Wharton or a slightly cheaper Baleba, Wilcox and Vivell would be telling the market: "We have a plan, and we won't be held to ransom." Overpaying now would undo all the progress we’ve seen in the last two windows. Under the Wilcox and Vivell era, we’ve finally moved away from the "United Tax" and started paying what players are actually worth.

There’s no way we should be paying £120m for Elliot Anderson. He’s a top-tier player, but that’s 'generational talent' money, and I don't think he’s at that level yet. There are plenty of other great options on the market for a much more reasonable price that would still give our midfield exactly what it needs without bankrupting us. If Wilcox is as smart as we think he is, he’ll walk away if the price stays that high and pivot to a better value-for-money profile.
