@rudyfunkmeyer @QuentinOcama I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said really, but the effort to make the changes that should be made is so hard, and often so resisted by ppl who love the current system, that we may end up tossing the whole thing. We need to get serious about reform.

So yes, we should make changes. We should invest in technology to make our conventions more accessible. We should find ways to speed up the process. But *this* will always, ALWAYS beat a closed door meeting between 5-10 elites who make a choice for us. WE have the power. (8/8)

I know I’ve tweeted a lot today but i’m going to wax poetic now and you can follow along or not, your choice! But I just wanted to reflect on why conventions mean so much to me, and why I literally flew in from a different state specifically for one. (1/)

At the DNC, delegates from other states were jealous and in awe of how grassroots our process is. Just something I keep in mind when I get frustrated with how time-intensive our process can be sometimes.

I love that we all complain here about how much regular people are able to get involved in the party process when in other states the Party Chair basically appoints whoever they choose into whatever position they want.

I’m currently a delegate for the SD-61 DFL convention on Saturday, but it’s supposed to be 70 on Saturday. Beautiful spring Saturday outside or waste the entire day inside a high school auditorium participating in an antiquated endorsement process? Going to be a tough decision.

@cwdarney When the Lynx played some WNBA finals games at the Barn a few years ago they had to bring in portable AC units bc it doesn’t either. Bball is a winter sport, it’s not supposed to be 80 in mid March!

@DoobLontonder @MerriamWebster Again, I understand the reasoning, but think about what you're saying: If enough people say down means up and alive means dead, then when I consult the dictionary, it tells me that foolish actually means wise. If that's helpful to you or others, so be it.

The problem is that we try to defend you, @MerriamWebster, by correcting incorrect usage, but you eventually undermine our support by saying: "If people are wrong long enough, then we give in and make them right." (See, for example, how "literally" now also means "figuratively.")

@cc22report I’m not sure you can claim to be on the players’ side and then say all this, including regurgitating owners’ talking points (completely unverified) about the proposals putting the league in debt etc.

This is extremely significant for a number of reasons Although it is the job of the WNBAPA to gun for the best possible deal for the player base as a whole, it is these agents' job to represent their own INDIVIDUAL players and the fact that they feel the PA is not being transparent or collaborative enough says a lot, and the fact that there are so many of them basically tells me the adults have essentially entered the chat There's no tiptoeing around it anymore - we know that a compromise number is out there but continuing to present unrealistic demands that would put the league millions of dollars in debt and threatening to strike without even presenting the compromise number as an option ain't it I'd expect to see the players' next offer to be an actual, realistic number, an offer designed to be accepted rather than negotiated down from I am on the players side in this whole mess in that I do think they should be getting gross revenue, I do think that the offer on the table (generous as it is) is not reflective of the player value, and I also think the league's proposed salary cap structure is, in a word, insane But I also think the players' pursuit of the perfect offer cannot be the enemy of a good offer and apparently the player agents agree

A slew of prominent WNBA player agents sent a letter on Thursday to WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson expressing "our collective preference for transparency and coordinated communication" with agents moving forward in CBA negotiations. espn.com/wnba/story/_/i…

@wdavisx3 @MinnesotaDFL @amyklobuchar Ok I took a bit of time to do this. Dunno if there are more generally accepted notions of which senate districts comprise the twin cities, but I used 59-67. In those SDs, Klobuchar got between 29% (in 60 and 62) and 62% (in SD66), with an average across all of them of 47.5%.

@wdavisx3 @MinnesotaDFL @amyklobuchar Hopefully someone can break out the twin cities results, which seem to be considerably worse for AK. Not to mention there were some precincts where folks were given false information.

Hey @richardcarlbom any updates on preference ballot? In my precinct we counted the ballots in the room on Tuesday night so I don’t know how it could take so long to report results.

Not sure when official results will be available, but here are the SD62 DFL preference ballot results. (We had three precincts out of 26 total that uh... forgot to do the preference ballot, so overall turnout should be slightly higher.)

@w1tterkw1k @cbouzy I’m not sure what you’re responding to, but if ppl want “commitment” to things that are not part of the job, then they want lies. Which I don’t think is true. I think both candidates gave answers that contribute to winning.

@efoster13 @cbouzy So quintessentially democrat to handwring over rules when the people want commitment. The order of operations is win first then govern. Why are we always doing it backwards!?

During the Democratic Senate debate in Texas, the moderator asked each candidate about impeaching Trump. Rep. Crockett didn't hesitate to say she would support impeaching Trump, and James Talarico danced around the question. We need fighters, not choirboys.

@Tokesq Yes and that’s great. It doesn’t suddenly make him the leader of the resistance. I’ll wait for his actions to match his words. Like put MPD officers between protestors and the gestapo for starters.
