LA Fires/Winds/Health Update😷: Battling massive asthma attacks & super-sinus inflammation from the Santa Ana Winds & Fires. On the mend thanks to antibiotics for lung infection & steroids for sinus inflammation blocking my breathing. Crossing my fingers that today's new winds don’t cause more power outages & fires! 🔥 Luckily, I DID NOT have to evacuate North Hollywood from the fires but I’m staying indoors with all my air filters on superblast.

@moorehn Any suggestions for a good spot for quick, delicious vegetarian recipes? I've struggled with a lot of the above suggestions b/c they tend to be very meat-focused. NYT may be bland but they have lots of veg mains! Would love not to rely on them.

I've said this before but it's worth repeating: NYT Cooking is the worst possible place you can get recipes. Their recipes are frequently imbalanced and fail utterly in flavor. Use Bon Appétit, use Ina Garten, use Martha Stewart, use Cook's Illustrated and America's Test Kitchen and Milk Street. Or use individual chefs like Molly Baz.

The New York Times just skewered my new book. The review is filled with personal attacks and tone-policing, and includes an aside that I didn't write about my father enough. But what is truly terrifying is the graphic they used, of someone dining on what appears to be my head.
