@sinrin_gaming Except you could circumvent that by dropping IVs without sacrificing another resource
English

Based on solely the eye test, Champions does look "good", but some points of concern here still:
- PP amount adjustments
- VP cost/earn ratio still unclear
- Removal of IVs
- Potential changes to stat drop calculations?
- INPUT LAG WHEN SELECTING MOVES??😭

I got to play Pokemon Champions early
English

@SpacePokemon097 @KindofL @crycartband @JoeMerrick @nickkrillin Tbh this is the best point for getting rid of IVs I’ve heard this actually makes some degree of sense
English

@KindofL @crycartband @JoeMerrick @nickkrillin If anything, they're leveling the playing field by maxing out all IVs and simply having EVs be adjustable. This means that any Pokemon from Home won't have some type of advantage against someone who's simply using Pokemon recruited in Champions
English

@sinrin_gaming Every point that you invest in speed in order to not even not just speed tie with opponents but even your own pokemon now comes with an opportunity cost in bulk or power. It does matter. Yes, everyone plays by those rules now, but it is a shame and will create new situations
English

@sinrin_gaming Idk what to tell you man other than that yeah it is less optimal that’s why it does matter in practice
English

@sinrin_gaming @smolPig21 Straight up untrue
In 2019 some amoonguss ran 14 attack IV for water spout + foul play procing sitrus
17 speed IV heatran also used to be used
29 speed amoonguss is common in recent formats to underspeed calyrex ice and outspeed other amoongusses
Various incins use non 0/31
English

@smolPig21 I was top 50 in showdown for 3 years straight. Outside of 0 speed, it literally has no impact in practice.

@JacobSkraw They survived for 3 generations without indeedee they will find a way
English

@Niarval @MustacheDLuffy @SheepEtiquette @OddishHime @AndyLaVGC Funniest part is OU ladder gets topped by wack strategies all the time so overcentralization is hardly an argument there either
English

@MustacheDLuffy @SheepEtiquette @OddishHime @AndyLaVGC Ok but we're talking about VGC, it has nothing to do with OU
English

Just in case you’re wondering, this is why VGC Is really small compared to the overall Pokemon audience

what ive learned from the rare candy & null discourse is that casual pokemon fans are completely against the idea of strategy, critical thinking, or planning... in an rpg...
English

@coolhead34 @ZC2forBO7 @Zynasart @Zentay99 @JoeMerrick This is also not mentioning that both ghold and dragapult would have a lot of trouble into strong steel types and such mons existing frequently within the metagame also means that rotom would have to fight them as well
English

@coolhead34 @ZC2forBO7 @Zynasart @Zentay99 @JoeMerrick Flutter and calyrex are both restricted to formats where the existing rotoms get super powercrept. Dragapult isn’t that good but in a much lower power format the combo could see use. Gholdengo is a better ghost but that comes with speed issues.
English

@ZC2forBO7 @Zynasart @Zentay99 @JoeMerrick Its difficult to explain in the twitter limit but restricting a move to be an option only when a resource is burned/in a specific boardstate does have limitations and is going to mean that this rotom is going to have to be strong regardless of if it's clicking bburst to be good
English

@ZC2forBO7 @Zynasart @Zentay99 @JoeMerrick +Yes but the problem is are those mons actually contributing to the battle?
+Tera will likely not exist in gen 10
There's a reason why even though these things are true many VGC players don't consider even moves like earthquake to be consistent enough to rely on as sole stab
English

@ZC2forBO7 @Zentay99 @JoeMerrick The problem is it hits the partner so unless there’s a reliable utility you can sit it next to it’s fairly limited in how much it can be clicked
English

@Zentay99 @JoeMerrick Think about it. After STAB and the doubles spread damage reduction, Rotom would be hitting both opponents with a base 157 power move on a base Special Attack of 105. That’s very respectable damage for a defensive utility Pokémon. Not broken by any means, but still pretty good.
