🎓 Excited 🎉 Today, I successfully defended my PhD @UFGeog on "Drought, Dam, and Dredging Impacts on Upper Apalachicola River and Floodplain." 🌊 It's been an incredible journey, and I'm thrilled to share my research with the world! 🌍 #PhDLife #Research #RiverEcology
A huge shoutout to my amazing supervisor @RockyJRivers and committe members (@kaserafin @westFLwaters) for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this adventure! 🙌 #Grateful #Mentorship #ThankYou #Geography

@WaterSHEDLab @RobertCMahon What about hitting and shaking it while swearing? I’d give that a try next. Hope you figure it out!

@WaterSHEDLab @RobertCMahon @WaterSHEDLab Maybe your SIM card is dislodged? Have you tried using the little key to take it out and put it back in?

@leighterry_h2o @FloodHydrology @nyflournoy @EPAresearch @AlabamaWater @bamaengineering Nice job, y’all!

EPA P3 awards announced and we got one! Excited to work with some awesome students and colleagues (@FloodHydrology @nyflournoy ) on private well water research! @EPAresearch @AlabamaWater @bamaengineering

@paigeinabook94 @HydroHammond I also like this book a great deal! But also recommend an article by Jonathan Phillips: Storytelling in the Earth Sciences: The eight basic plots doi.org/10.1016/j.ears…

@jaredmargulies Totally! I think it’s our institution’s way of mentoring us for the slog of a grant proposal submission.

@dyannick326 @UCFBiologyDept @UaDeptBSC @StarrlabUA1 @UA_AS Congratulations, David! I know you will do great things with this award!

Found out early this morning that I was awarded the NSF #GRFP, supporting continued endeavors in the field of biogeochemistry. Beyond grateful of support and mentorship over the years from those at @UCFBiologyDept, Lisa Chambers/ABL, and here at @UaDeptBSC @StarrlabUA1 @UA_AS !

Yeah, I was at her poster session. Very brilliant and clearly presented the research articulately. A very interesting research on extreme floods during the holocene.

@paleoMunoz @NSF Well done! I know you’ll do great things with it!

I am delighted to announce that my @NSF CAREER proposal is being recommended for funding! We'll be examining floodplain hydraulics and sedimentation to constrain paleoflood records and contribute towards safer and more sustainable alluvial river management strategies.

@scottstgeorge @fluvi_AL @paleo_ray Seems like any technique to increase sample size should reduce uncertainties -- with the usual caveats.
English

@paleoMunoz @scottstgeorge @paleo_ray I’ve also been thinking about this, Scott. Finally have a student interested. Despite my previous comment, we’ve wondered whether hydroextremes of all kinds might have more in common with each other than their more moderate versions, allowing their observations to be combined?
English

@paleoMunoz @scottstgeorge @paleo_ray Agreed, Sam. Can’t be any worse than picking a hypothetical PDF to simulate potential scenarios, especially if there’s good hydroclimate similarities across sites?

In partnership with @UofAlabama we’re constructing a new Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility in Tuscaloosa, AL.
@USGS scientists recently got to go behind-the-scenes with those constructing the facility to see the walls and the steel structures being placed.

@FloodHydrology Thx Nate! You too! I don’t mean to be a prude, but those cats are naked! Where’s their matching holiday attire?

@SEDAAG4 @cary_mock This is very sad news. My condolences to AJ’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Allan James, Emeritus Professor at the University of South Carolina and a past Vice President of @SEDAAG4 passed on December 3. He had a tremendous scientific, collegial, and mentoring impact on our geography and geomorphology community and beyond. He will be deeply missed.
