@TheMG3D you can say this about any tech: "There is no good reason why this should be able to exist at all".

It doesn’t matter how “real” it looks it will always be AI slop. There is no good reason why this should be able to exist at all, it will be only be used to spread misinformation or scam people.

@TheMG3D jealous about a guy getting millions of views for doing basic shit recorded on a smartphone. or maybe just too autistic to get the comedic part.

I read much more tech books and official docs since the AI boom. I also recently bought one year udemy subscription in advance - first time since I started buying courses there 7-8 years ago. I also bought threejs-journey course for 99$ August last year - the most expensive tutorial so far in my dev carreer (not counting conferences). I think it's just coincidence because right when chatgpt 4 dropped I also had some significant shift in my private life. But AI definitely helped me to understand better what I read. Instead of waiting hours or days on responses on stackoverflow or reading retarded reddit comments I can just ask an LLM and get reasonable clarifications on most of the tech topics.

Does anyone still buy courses anymore? 🤔 I don't want to completely abandon the educational aspect of my business, but video courses seem horribly obsolete now that everyone is shifting to agentic coding. Right now, my thinking is abandon the video format and instead create a human-curated repository of code, projects and custom instructions that turns the terminal into your own personal WebGPU tutor. I know that's basically what Claude skills are, but it would need to be LLM-agnostic. I also think there are ways to make it more guided/interactive rather than a giant dump of information.

gemini pro chats started hitting usage limits within unreasonably short usage (10-20 messages within a few hours) recently... upgrade option starts at 280€/month 😳

You have to understand that almost no ai ceo has a technical background. Sam Altman for example was pushed to the top of silicon valley not because he is dope at making profitable businesses or his tech expertise but because he can lie with a straight face - which is the most important feature you need to have in a VC world. So while i dont know much about this guy. Generally his kind of guys just lie and push their fraudulent agendas, not what is objectively best or true

I'm trying to export all my conversations from ChatGPT (they sent me a link for that), and the download (more than 1.5/1.8Gb) keeps failing. Amazing service, for real.

Larry Ellison basically just said it out loud. ‘Your private data? Yeah, that's the secret sauce for AI... and lucky us, we've got the biggest pantry full of it. What did you think the clouds were made of? Clouds aren't vapor. They're our emails, transactions, medical history, and every swallowed enterprise DB over the last 50 years. Oracle isn't building AI. They're building the panopticon 2.0 and then making AI the prison guard. “Don’t worry—it’s for progress.”

first of all i lost any respect for him after seeing how disrespectful he is talking about some european fighter because he wasn't doing exactly as he wanted him to do (despite him not being professional actor / stuntman). secondly most if not all of his stunts or done on daily basis by parkour kids across the world for decades.

Even the latest llms fail at finding creative solutions to basic problems. If no one talked on the internet or in books about the solution you are looking for - llms will spit out the most dumb shit. And what's even worse: not only can't they come up with a solution they also waste your time with trash suggestions. I recently had to translate a site from English to Russian and German with a lot of idioms and casual phrases - Gemini Pro had dumbest translation suggestions. On the other hand the llms seem to be doing quite a good job for semantic search.

A C compiler is one of the most over-represented “serious projects” in software engineering. Students, hobbyists, researchers. Thousands have written and published one. Is the model solving problem or statistically reconstructing patterns from a saturated training distribution?
Anthropic@AnthropicAI

New Engineering blog: We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C compiler. Then we (mostly) walked away. Two weeks later, it worked on the Linux kernel. Here's what it taught us about the future of autonomous software development. Read more: anthropic.com/engineering/bu…

I think about this all the time. Control will obviously create a better result, but the costs and timelines are so asymmetrical it might not matter. This took 2 days and maybe $100 in compute to produce. The Hollywood pipeline would be 2 years + $5M. At that cost, indie film makers could publish a new series to Youtube every week, testing and exploring niche story ideas. Will audiences care that it's not perfect? Maybe. But podcasts replaced late night TV despite worse production too. Audiences might overlook perfection if the stories are nicher to their interests. Hollywood might not die, but there would be far fewer productions due to the increased competition and risk of no return on investment.

The problem with these "RIP Hollywood" formula is that they come from people who never worked for Hollywood productions. @PJaccetturo, it doesn't look photoreal. A lot of shots need work. Can you provide masks for DI ? Can you refine fx/animation ? Provide 32b EXR for review ?
PJ Ace@PJaccetturo

RIP Hollywood. AI is now 100% photorealistic with the launch of Kling 3.0 In just two days, I created the opening sequence from The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson You have to try this new Multi-Shot technique that makes making films much faster and cheaper 🧵👇
