That balance requires a judgment to be made, and I am satisfied that, despite our best intentions, on this occasion the correct balance has not been achieved. Accordingly, I am rescinding the finding against xxxxx and withdrawing the warning that was issued to him. It has been removed from his record. On behalf of the College, I apologise to him and to you for the way this matter has been handled. We will be in contact with xxxx to facilitate and support his return to studies as swiftly and smoothly as possible. The learnings from xxxx case will be fed into our forthcoming review of our policies, processes and the standards of conduct we expect from our learners, as well as the training we offer our staff about handling issues related to freedom of expression.
