not sure I would agree with Ed D arsing around on/in water as the sole reason for the Lib Dem stasis in the polls. For me they are too laser focused on single issues - pollution, potholes, Brexit. Issues that the public care about, sure, but still see as 'nice to haves' rather than critical. And their popularity in the rural west country seems to confirm this - if you are a middle class rural remainer concerned about the damage to your land rover chassis from pot holes and the prices of sending your artisanal jam to the continent then the Lib Dems are the party for you, but their portfolio is simply not broad enough at the moment to stop them being overtaken by the Greens.
