Lots of panic/excitement about yesterday's GA3 sunsetting announcement. Stepping back a bit, I don’t think it’s bad news; here are some quick thoughts why.

@larsmaat Hey @Larsmaat - great question. I don't think it'll filter out bot traffic unless that would be coming in through Measurement Protocol (which is much harder in GA4 than UA, without the secret key).

@fred_pike Fred, thanks for your Measuresummit presentation. I have a question about putting the GTM Container ID in the parameters. Is it also, in your opinion, a good way to filter out bottraffic in your GA4 data? (if data is not having that parameter, it is not valid?)

@ryanlevander Just went through that process. Looked at Audi, Tesla, and Lexus, and ended up with the latter. It’s a wonderful car but really low on the range side (about 200 miles). But given my circumstances, it works great for me. I really liked the “EV Pulse” YT channel.

Going car shopping this weekend… definitely going to be getting and EV…any tips?

@jenboland The two very worst surprises in looking at GA4 accounts is finding they have not changed the two-month retention setting or added any custom dimensions. Just a frickin' killer, with no recourse to fall back on. Very painful set-up mistakes!

I'm not sure how we spread the work, but I just started working on a content audit for a new client and they had the default 2 month retention setting in place in #GA4 . Luckily I can backfill with UA data, but this is going to be a real problem for organizations in the future.

Anybody already have the new GA4 settings tag in GTM besides @SimoAhava and @fedorovicius? How fast will this roll out? Trying to plan our work around it😂 would suck to do a new implementation the old way right now.

There are so many great courses out there for learning GA4 (including mine at CXL), but I know this course from @danaditomaso is going to be a great one. She’s super smart and has a gift for explaining things, and this goes beyond GA4. Very cool stuff!
