I don’t understand why we don’t require people to enlist in the military to become a citizen. It’s the best way to show your loyalty to the country.

@frogedev @mejitwo Got it. Sorry if that sounded like push back. I didn’t mean it to. I was genuinely curious where you’d sort it. It is Maths for a fact.

@thegreatrudder @mejitwo Yes, but you cannot have the accuracy of other fields, and thus far you cannot reduce it to first principles (physics).

@frogedev @mejitwo Economics is growing to be more empirical by the day; using price theory, it is possible to test hypotheses. Even if you ignore the axiom of rationality alone, having bounded rationality permits the set-up of experiments that can test human behavior.

@mousdrvr @mejitwo I think it is mostly just math. It can be used to create models of the world, but so can math. It is experimental, but that is only bc it is easier to code iteratively than at once. Also, I was only saying that SS isn't rigorous enough, not CS.

@frogedev @mejitwo CS is probably a tiny bit more experimental than many people realize but I buy it not being classified as a science. However, it is absolutely concerned with rigor. What would you call it? I’m not sure calling it an independent branch of Mathematics makes sense.

@fromdusktildawn Most of the people on food stamps are fat. We spend 20% of our GDP on welfare. It's a spending problem, just not the way you are saying it is.

@cremieuxrecueil If it only applies to public companies, companies will go and stay private, and all it will do is kill the stock market and hurt the very people it promises to help.

@rushicrypto We could use the designs, but we don't have the whole supply chain. Also better to use new tech like better computers for safety + cost.

Serious question: If we were able to go to the Moon and land there in the 1960s, what makes it so difficult to do it again in 2026? Can’t we just reuse the technology from the 1960s and 1970s?

Tonight’s Artemis II launch to the moon is going to cost every American about $12 each. An Artemis launch costs $4.1 billion, is 95% single-use, and is largely based on technology from the 1980’s. It’s insanely overpriced, but I’m willing to pay $12 to watch a rocket take humans back toward the moon. Can’t wait.

@Polymarket Also….first time going to the moon. First time was nothing but bullshit a 3rd grader could figure out. Doubtful this time too. 250,000 miles is quite a distance. Maybe they will keep records this time. Shitshow on wheels.
